THIS WAS 2026! MXGP SEASON & MXoN REVIEW

NOW IS THE TIME TO REFLECT ON THE 2026 SEASON... AND WHAT A SEASON IT WAS!!

The 2026 MXGP season will be remembered as one where legends wrote new chapters, history was made, and a new generation continued to push the boundaries of motocross.

In MXGP, Jeffrey Herlings once again demonstrated why he is one of the greatest riders the sport has ever seen. Embarking on a new chapter with Honda HRC PETRONAS, the Dutchman delivered a remarkable debut season with his new team, capturing his sixth World Championship crown and his third in the premier class. With 13 Grand Prix victories throughout the campaign, Herlings continued to extend his incredible record, proving once again that his hunger for success remains as strong as ever.

Behind him, Romain Febvre and Tim Gajser completed the championship's top three, while Lucas Coenen continued to establish himself among the premier class's leading contenders. Yet 2026 ultimately belonged to Herlings, whose combination of speed, consistency and determination proved virtually unstoppable.

In MX2, a new chapter in championship history was written. Guillem Farres delivered the season of his career to claim his first World Championship title, bringing Triumph its first-ever MX2 crown in just its third year back in World Championship motocross. Under constant pressure from teammate Camden Mc Lellan, who secured second place, and fellow young star Sacha Coenen, Farres demonstrated the consistency and determination required to reach the very top. Triumph's remarkable one-two finish made the achievement even more special.

It was a season of new beginnings, legendary performances and historic milestones. From Herlings adding another chapter to his extraordinary career to Farres achieving a lifelong ambition, 2026 delivered unforgettable moments across both categories.

Beyond the World Championship battles, the 2026 season also delivered an unforgettable edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. Returning to Ernée, France, in front of an incredible crowd of more than 100,000 passionate fans, the 79th edition provided a fitting finale to a remarkable year. After 13 years of waiting, Team Belgium finally returned to the top of the podium, as Lucas Coenen, Sacha Coenen and Liam Everts combined their talents to reclaim the coveted Chamberlain Trophy. A historic victory for one of motocross's most successful nations, made even more special by the young age of the winning trio. But history was also made elsewhere. Team Spain achieved its first-ever podium finish, with Jorge Prado, Guillem Farres and Francisco García securing a sensational second place, while Team Netherlands completed the podium in third. With individual class victories for Prado in MXGP, Farres in MX2 and Jeffrey Herlings in Open, the weekend brought together the very best of the sport in a celebration of national pride, sporting excellence and pure motocross passion. An unforgettable finale that once again reminded us why the Motocross of Nations remains one of the most special events on the racing calendar.

A year that reminded us once again that motocross is a sport where history is never finished being written, and where the next generation is always ready to challenge the legends.
