The 2024 Yamaha YZ BLU CRU FIM Europe Cup saw a record number of entries, with 754 riders aged between eight and 16 registered from 31 different countries, an increase of 40% compared to 2023 as more youngsters took the opportunity to become a part of the award-winning BLU CRU program. It also saw the first participants from outside Europe at the season-ending SuperFinale, with entries from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Brazil, highlighting the global reach of the BLU CRU program and Yamaha’s commitment to developing young talent worldwide.

This number is predicted to be beaten once more in 2025 as the Yamaha YZ BLU CRU FIM Europe Cup grows from strength to strength, with over 600 competitors already signed up with three weeks left to go, including over 50 female riders and 40 sets of siblings.

Similar to previous years, Yamaha’s BLU CRU program forms the foundation of the Yamaha Racing pyramid and is designed to cultivate the next generation of young riding talent in road and off-road racing. It creates a professional environment featuring coaching, technical support, and mentoring from some of the biggest names in racing to encourage, develop, and nurture the stars of tomorrow while providing an uninterrupted and structured career path from national to world championship level. 

The Yamaha YZ BLU CRU FIM Europe Cup allows young riders around the world to compete against each other in either the YZ125, YZ85, or YZ65 classes, with the top 40 competitors from each category earning a place at the Yamaha YZ BLU CRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale, which will take place in Uddevalla, Sweden, on August 15th-17th alongside the 16th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

The riders who qualify for the prestigious YZ BLU CRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale will get to experience being a part of a World Championship event in front of thousands of fans, the world’s media, and alongside their MXGP heroes. The top three riders from each category and two wildcards will earn a coveted spot at the exclusive BLU CRU Masterclass.

At the BLU CRU Masterclass, they will receive expert training, tutoring, and a glimpse into the world of professional motocross. For YZ125 riders, the ultimate reward is a ride with a Supported Yamaha team in the 2026 EMX125 Championship, while YZ85 and YZ65 competitors will receive Yamaha support and GYTR parts for the following season.

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 7 January 2025 – Infront Moto Racing and Yamaha Motor Europe are excited to announce that the 2025 edition of the Yamaha bLU cRU FIM Europe SuperFinale is set to take place alongside the MXGP of Sweden at the classic circuit of Uddevalla on 16 - 17 of August.

The 2024 edition of this event was run alongside the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin, and for the first time competitors from overseas were invited to join riders from the traditional YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup, so we saw riders competing from as far afield as Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and North and South America. A record 754 riders aged 8 to 16 from 31 countries took part, a 40% increase on 2023.  All of the riders benefitted from the advice of Yamaha ambassadors such as Ryan Villopoto, Brian Jorgensen, and Nancy van de Ven with track walks and coaching sessions across the weekend. 

At the 2025 YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale, the top three riders from each category and two wildcards will earn a coveted spot at the exclusive bLU cRU Masterclass. This two-day event offers expert training, mentorship, and a glimpse into the professional motocross environment. For YZ125 riders, the ultimate reward is a ride with a Supported Yamaha team in the 2026 EMX125 Championship, while YZ85 and YZ65 competitors will receive Yamaha support for the following season. 

The scheduling of the SuperFinale in Sweden means that the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing class will not hold its final round that weekend, but the EMX250 class will still go ahead as normal.  The bLU cRU pilots will have a chance to experience the thrill of a full MXGP weekend as the usual Grand Prix schedule for the MX2 and MXGP classes will take place on the very same circuit, allowing the young riders to truly compare their skills and learn from the best riders in the paddock.

2024 was a monumental year for the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup, with Yamaha launching its first-ever global SuperFinale. This exciting event, held at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Matterley Basin, Great Britain, brought together young riders from across the globe, including competitors from the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Japan, Argentina, and Brazil. The cup is no longer just a European event—it has truly become a global platform for the next generation of motocross stars!

Since its launch in 2016, the YZ bLU cRU Cup has become the top gateway for young motocross talents aiming to progress into top-tier teams within the European Motocross Championship. This program provides a clear path for aspiring riders to climb through Yamaha’s racing structure and ultimately compete at the highest levels. Over the years, Yamaha has nurtured multiple champions, with over half of the current Monster Energy Yamaha Factory riders emerging from this development pipeline.

Maxime Renaux, the 2021 MX2 World Champion, is a great example of how Yamaha’s pyramid strategy works. Renaux first made his mark by winning the Junior Motocross World Championship on a YZ125 in 2015, paving the way for future talents like Ivano van Erp, who claimed the same title in 2022. Thibault Benistant and Janis Reisulis also rose through Yamaha’s ranks, securing EMX125 titles on GYTR-kitted YZ125s in 2018 and 2023, respectively. Similarly, Rick Elzinga, after landing podiums on his YZ125, advanced to the YZ250F, where he clinched the EMX250 Championship in 2022. All of these riders remain with Yamaha, with Renaux, Benistant and Elzinga now on factory rides, while van Erp and Reisulis made up two thirds of Yamaha’s Official EMX250 team in 2024.

For these riders, Yamaha’s step-up program has been key to helping them reach Grand Prix-level success. While some of them were already part of the Yamaha Family before the introduction of the YZ bLU cRU Cup or were scouted early on, they’ve all used Yamaha’s racing strategy to advance their careers and reach the top.

That’s what makes the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup special—it gives hundreds of young Yamaha riders the chance to showcase their talent not only to Yamaha’s Racing Committee but also to the world.

The SuperFinale brings together the top YZ bLU cRU Cup riders from around the globe in the YZ65, YZ85, and YZ125 classes, giving them a taste of what it's like to compete at the highest level. After months of intense training and national races, earning a spot in the SuperFinale is the ultimate reward for their hard work and dedication. It’s not just about racing, nor is it about winning; it’s about embracing the experience, making new friends, learning from it all, and enjoying the journey. It’s the realization of a dream, competing at one of the biggest and most prestigious events in motocross, on the same track as their heroes and in front of thousands of fans. It’s an experience they’ll never forget.

MATERLEY BASIN (United Kingdom) 7 October 2024 – After victories for two overseas riders (Australia’s Blake Bohannon and America’s Tayce Morgan) in the YZ65 and YZ85 races on Saturday, it was the turn of home rider Jamie Keith to take the spoils in the YZ125 SuperFinale at Matterley Basin on Sunday.

In 2024 the Yamaha YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale opened up to riders from across the globe, allowing new talents to be discovered and making for some exciting racing around the tough Matterley Basin track. This was particularly evident in the YZ125 SuperFinale when New Zealand’s Levi Townley went head-to-head with Britain’s Keith, a battle that went right down to the chequered flag.

Light rain in the morning made the already churned up track tougher to manage for the young riders, but the 35 contenders were keen and ready to show their skills in front of the huge Motocross of Nations crowd. Townley rocketed off the gate to lead into the first corners, a position he looked set to hold in the early part of the race. Meanwhile, Latvia’s Jekubs Kubulins - one of the main contenders at last year’s SuperFinale - was up into second. Keith quickly charged through, putting space between himself and the chasing Kubulins, Tyla Van de Poel (NED) and Ollie Bubb (GBR). Van de Poel would eventually drop back to 28th, leaving Emile De Baere (BEL) to move ahead of Bubb.

Talented Townley had managed to stretch the lead to over two and a half seconds, but Keith began closing with around seven minutes plus two laps left. Setting his sights on victory, the young Brit was roared on by the home crowd to overtake Townley with a brilliant move, and as the clock ticked down it looked as though he had the win wrapped up. However, a final thrilling fight back by the New Zealander made the last two laps incredibly tight between the pair. Keith held on for an emotional home victory while Townley and Kubulins completed the final podium of the 2024 SuperFinale.

YZ125 SUPERFINALE RACE RESULTS

The top three European finishers plus two wildcards in each class of the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale will receive an invite to the bLU cRU Masterclass that will take place on the 12th and 13th November. There, one YZ125 rider will win a place in a Yamaha-supported EMX125 team for 2025, while the top-performing YZ65 and YZ85 youngsters will earn added support from Yamaha Motor Europe for next season.

Jamie Keith, YZ125 SuperFinale Winner: “I’m absolutely buzzing and I don’t really know what to say, that was the craziest race I’ve ridden in my entire life – it was nonstop! The crowd were incredible, they were cheering me on and I had no choice but to win for them. I’m over the moon."

MATTERLEY BASIN (United Kingdom) 6 October 2024 – The 2024 YZ bLU cRU Europe Cup SuperFinale got underway on Saturday October 5th at the legendary Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN) with the YZ65 and YZ85 races on the world famous Matterley Basin circuit. Australia’s Blake Bohannon and the USA’s Tayce Morgan took the spoils in the respective races. 

Next to take to the track was the YZ85 class, a total of 36 riders. Here the holeshot was taken by the USA’s Tayce Morgan. The SuperFinale first-timer seemed to have everything under control as he maintained the lead over the first lap, but as Davie Dürr gave chase Morgan took a rough landing over one of Matterley’s huge jumps and went down. The American remounted quickly and was ready to retaliate as Dürr attempted to break away. With five minutes left in the 15 minutes plus three lap race, Morgan was on the back tyre of his rival, and with just a few minutes left on the clock he regained the lead of the race, leaving a disappointed Dürr to settle for second. Meanwhile, Kay Zijlstra (NED), Talon Medaglia (CAN) and Willads Gordon (DEN) all had their sights set on completing the podium, but it was the Dutch rider who proved strongest of the three. 

Tayce Morgan, YZ85 Winner: “It feels really good to win, I got the holeshot but it was a really tough race because I had a crash and I had to push hard to come back to the front, but I did it and the feeling is awesome. Thanks to Yamaha and everyone who supports me.”

A total of 40 aspiring young riders lined up on the start gate for the YZ65 race, a 12 minute plus two-lap duel across the tricky new layout at the track near Winchester in the U.K. Jann Huisman was quickest at the gate drop and he grabbed the holeshot, but Australia’s Bohannon was quick to get into the lead, feeling confident after topping timed practice. When Huisman dropped back after a save and Kade Nightingale suffered a fall there were no challengers for the Australian debutant. With seven minutes remaining in the race, he had already built up an impressive seven-second lead, and by the chequered flag he had an incredible 38 second gap. Austria’s Maurice Heidegger rode to a strong second place, while a tight battle broke out between Nightingale (USA) and Tommy Wood (GBR) for the final spot on the podium, this was eventually taken by the American. The top 14 places were filled by 14 different nationalities.
