GARCIA GOES 1-1 IN UDDEVALLA TO STRETCH HIS EMX250 LEAD

UDDEVALLA (Sweden) 16 August 2026 – Francisco Garcia was back on the gate at Glimminge Motorstadion after sitting out the previous round with a knee injury, and he answered with a perfect weekend. The Spaniard won both races at round 10 of the EMX250 European Championship on the oldest circuit on the calendar to take his sixth overall win of the season.

Joe Brookes and Francesco Bellei joined him on the box; the pair tied on 38 points with Brookes taking second on his better race two result. Jake Cannon made up for a Saturday ruined by a first-lap crash with a runner-up finish in race two, while Nicolai Skovbjerg was left to recover from a poor start in each race. Garcia leaves Sweden 87 points clear at the top of the standings.

EMX250 Start Uddevalla 2026

Francisco Garcia wasted no time making up for his enforced weekend off. The Spaniard swept into the lead on the Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki and was straight to the front when it mattered, with Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM's Francesco Bellei slotting into second and Nicolò Alvisi, on the Maddii Racing Team Honda, into third. Behind them a pile-up in the first couple of corners shuffled the pack, and Cannon was among those caught up in trouble on the opening lap.

Brookes was the first to make progress, coming through on Alvisi for third before the end of lap one, and Sebastian Leok of MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing followed him past the Italian for fourth. Alvisi began to slip backwards and would eventually finish seventh, while Leok's afternoon ended with a crash from fourth place that he was unable to recover from. That left the door open for SixtySeven Racing-Team's Nicolai Skovbjerg, who had gone through the opening lap back in eighth and spent the first half of the race working his way forward.

Garcia's advantage was comfortable until he went down late on, and with a couple of laps remaining Skovbjerg was close enough to attack. The Dane passed Brookes for third and then took second from Bellei a few corners later, but he had left himself too much to do. Garcia held on for his 14th race win of the season, with Bellei third and Brookes fourth. Byron Dennis rounded out the top five for Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM on his first EMX250 race, ahead of Team VHR Racing's Tom Brunet, Alvisi, Young Motion powered by Resa's Alve Callemo, Laban Alm and Simone Mancini of the Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team, the Italian classified tenth after a two-position penalty for failing post-race noise control.

Race two brought a lightning start from Cannon, making amends for the opening-lap crash that had wrecked his Saturday. The Australian led into the first turn with his Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki teammate Garcia alongside him, Bellei and Brookes to the outside and Dennis and Leok just behind. Garcia found his way past Cannon on the first long downhill and immediately put a couple of seconds between them.

Brookes was in no mood to hang around and came through on Cannon before the end of the opening lap to take second, holding the place for the next ten laps. Dennis went up the inside of Leok and then took fifth from Brunet, who faded to tenth by the flag. Skovbjerg was recovering from another poor start, working forward from around 13th place on the opening lap and finally getting past Leok on lap 11 for sixth, by which point Bellei and Dennis were long gone.

After three or four attempts Cannon finally got up the inside of Brookes on lap 12 to take second, but Garcia was out of sight and cruised to the flag for his 15th race win of the season. Bellei came home fourth ahead of Dennis, Skovbjerg, Leok, his Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM teammate Mads Fredsoe, the RFME Spain National Team's Adria Monne and Brunet.

The 1-1, Garcia's sixth of the year, handed him the overall on 50 points from Brookes and Bellei, who tied on 38 with Brookes taking second on his better race two result. It was Garcia's sixth overall win of the season and moved him 87 points clear of Skovbjerg with two rounds and 100 points still to play for, starting in Arnhem.

Francisco Garcia: “I didn't expect anything. I only expected to come here and take some points, but I was so good at the start. I took two good starts and after that I took the lead and just rode on my own. I don't know how many points I have now, but we go to Arnhem with a good gap, so we will see about the championship there. I am happy with all my team and with my family, who support me in the bad moments. Thank you to everyone.”

Joe Brookes: “It was really good. In the first race I was third and trying to have a go at second, and it was difficult out there. We were doing the same lines and I couldn't find anything different to make the pass, and then in the last lap or two I got passed for fourth. The second race was good. It tightened up and I got a bit of arm pump in that one. But overall I'm super happy to get on the podium again and to keep it rolling for the last two rounds.”

Francesco Bellei: “I'm really happy. Back-to-back podiums feels good, especially because I have come from a bad season, I can say. I had an injury, but we look forward. I had a nice weekend with two almost holeshots. In the first race I got a good start, then I struggled a bit in the first corner. I was second until near the end and then Nicolai passed me, but it was still good. P3 in my first year on a 250 is good. In the second race, almost a holeshot again, then some guys passed me in the first two corners and I managed to finish P4 and P3 overall. I'm really happy and looking forward to Arnhem.”

MXGP STARS TAKE OVER TORP SHOPPING CENTRE ON THE EVE OF THE MXGP OF SWEDEN

UDDEVALLA (Sweden) 14 August 2026 – The countdown to round 15 of the FIM Motocross World Championship began away from Glimminge Motorstadion on Friday, as the stars of MXGP and MX2 met the Swedish public at Torp Köpcentrum for the traditional pre-event signing session.

Now a fixture of the Uddevalla weekend, the Torp gathering has grown year on year into the opening event of the MXGP of Sweden. Friday's edition was no exception, with the entrance of the shopping centre packed well before the late-afternoon start.

The warm-up came courtesy of a freestyle motocross demonstration, the roar of two-strokes and a series of big-air tricks setting the tone and pulling in shoppers from across the centre. By the time the riders were introduced, the crowd was ready.

Leading the line-up was Honda HRC Petronas' Jeffrey Herlings, joined by his teammate Tom Vialle. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP brought Tim Gajser and Maxime Renaux, while Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP was represented by Pauls Jonass. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing came with Andrea Adamo alongside MX2 duo Simon Längenfelder and Sacha Coenen. Team Honda Motoblouz SR Motul's Kevin Horgmo, the Norwegian who knows this corner of Scandinavia better than most, was joined by Switzerland's Kevin Brumann and Sweden's own Leopold Ambjörnsson. They were accompanied by many  local Swedish riders form MXGP, MX2 and EMX classes too.

And then there was Isak Gifting. The JK Racing Yamaha rider was the name the crowd had come for, and the reception he received made that clear from the moment he stepped forward. Viking helmets and homemade flags filled the front rows.

After a family photo with the full line-up, a surprise was that the Swedish Federation SVEMO announced Isak Gifting and Alve Callemo on stage to present the Team Sweden MXoN.  Third rider on the team Alve Callemo. Alvin Östlund could not make it to the event but he was confirmed in the team.

Meanwhile the riders settled in behind the tables to sign posters, caps, flags, race jerseys and anything else the fans could hold up. The queue was massive which shows once more the passion that Swedish fans have for motocross.

Gifting stayed on well beyond the scheduled end of the session, working through every remaining fan and making sure no child left without a signature, a photo and a moment of his time. It is the kind of gesture that turns a home Grand Prix into something more than a race weekend.

The evening then belonged to the generations that came before. A holeshot competition brought the legends of the sport back to the gate, with five-time World Champion Joel Smets and 2004 MX2 World Champion Ben Townley lining up alongside Rasmus Jørgensen, Jörgen Nilsson, Mats "Lappen" Nilsson, Anders Eriksson, Brian Jørgensen, Kenneth Gundersen, Filip Thuresson and Joakim Ljunggren.

So many riders answered the call that the start straight was full, and the atmosphere they created, part reunion, part race, was matched only by the exchange they shared with the fans who had stayed to watch.

The fans were not the only audience. A large slice of the current MXGP and MX2 grid stayed on for the show, and the reaction from the paddock's younger generation said plenty: the reflexes, the aggression and the sheer commitment to their start had not gone anywhere.

When the gate stopped dropping, it was Rasmus Jørgensen who had been declared victorius and the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team manager took the trophy home. Watching from the sidelines were his own riders, Liam Everts and Kay de Wolf, who had turned up to cheer and maybe offering their insights beforehand.

Attention now turns to Glimminge Motorstadion, where the 2026 MXGP of Sweden runs on Saturday and Sunday.

WORLDWIDE TV COVERAGE – HOW TO WATCH THE MXGP OF SWEDEN

UDDEVALLA (Sweden) 14 August 2026 – The 2026 FIM Motocross World Championships takes a trip to Scandinavia this weekend, as the Glimminge Motorstadion circuit near the town of Uddevalla hosts the MXGP of Sweden in the south-west of the country which has one of the most glorious histories in the sport!

Jeffrey Herlings has, by his standards, a not so impressive record here as he leads the MXGP series for Honda HRC Petronas, and he will be looking for his first Swedish GP win here in the premier class! Defending World Champion Romain Febvre, now up to second in the standings, won his most recent Grand Prix here with a perfect 1-1-1 weekend in 2025, so he could challenge “The Bullet” around Uddevalla this year! Watch out though, for the dynamic home hero Isak Gifting, who got everybody roaring for him with an incredible ride last year, so who knows what he can do in 2026?!

The MX2 class is being led by the Spaniard Guillem Farres, confirmed as staying with the Triumph Racing Factory Team for an MXGP assault next year, and he would dearly like to move up as Champion! Sacha Coenen and Camden McLellan will be doing their best to deny him that chance, while reigning Champ Simon Längenfelder has never finished off the podium at this venue!  MX2 could be wide open!

The EMX250 European Motocross Championship sees the return of its series leader this weekend, and the EMX125 European Championship Presented by FMF Racing could well have its Champion crowned as it comes to its penultimate round!

The entire weekend’s races will be broadcast LIVE on MXGP-TV.com, with the MXGP of Sweden brought to you by Paul Malin, Lisa Leyland, and Ben Rumbold, while Saturday’s Time Practice sessions are also being broadcasted LIVE with Paul and Lisa.

Below you can find a list of all TV channels worldwide that will air LIVE and delayed action, as well as the 26-minute Behind The Gate magazine show featuring the best moments from the races, exclusive interviews and more, will be available on MXGP-TV.com and via our TV magazine partners following the Grand Prix.

All you need to do is log onto www.MXGP-TV.com to check out the action from one of the sport’s most historic venues, as one of the craziest crowds on the calendar bring the noise to your living rooms!
