Vialle Signs for Another Four Years with Red Bull KTM and Eyes the MXGP Class

Defending MX2 World Champion Tom Vialle will steer the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing KTM 250 SX-F in the 2022 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship before entering the premier class of MXGP in 2023.

20-year-old Vialle claimed the 2020 MX2 title and has already won four Grands Prix in the current campaign. The Frenchman is rapidly climbing the standings after suffering a broken right hand earlier in the season and has risen from 11th to 4th position with seven rounds still to go.

After entering the Red Bull KTM squad as an MX2 rookie in 2019, Vialle has made incredible progress and mixed his blossoming technique, fitness, racecraft and intelligence with outstanding results. He has now committed his future to the factory effort to bring his association with KTM up to more than half a decade.

As well as aiming for another MX2 crown in 2022 – where Vialle will also help develop the latest generation of the KTM 250 SX-F - #28 is also lined-up to make his debut with the KTM 450 SX-F in MXGP in 2023 where he will be given time and scope to learn the intricacies of the division in a deal that will stretch to the end of 2025.

Tom Vialle: “I’m so happy to continue with KTM. I want to give special thanks to Robert and Pit because they understand me and my wish to make another year in MX2 because I had some bad luck this season. I want another title. I feel so good with the team – Dirk, Joel, Valentina, Harry, the whole crew – and I wanted to carry on with them. It was an easy decision. KTM is my first team! They were the first people who believed in me, so I am very grateful.”

Robert Jonas, VP of Motorsports Offroad: “When Tom came into the Red Bull KTM team he was given the opportunity to show what he could do and he worked hard, listened, learned and delivered. I think he is a shining example to any youngster wanting to follow the same path. He has vindicated the belief that people like Joel Smets and Dirk Gruebel had in him and we’re delighted to watch how he’s progressed and become such a force with the KTM 250 SX-F. We’re also proud that we can continue the story together and it’s fantastic to create this longer-term project with Tom for both his last MX2 season and into MXGP. If we can continue as we have so far then we hope to have another special rider, team and machine combination coming up.”

The adrenaline fuelled two-wheel game of the official FIM Motocross World Championship is back with the 2021 edition

MONACO, Principality of Monaco, 7 October 2021 – Infront Moto Racing and Milestone announce today MXGP 2021, new chapter of the beloved series of the official FIM Motocross World Championship. The game will be available on November 30, 2021 on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC Steam.

MXGP 2021 will let players compete with more than 40 riders from MXGP and MX2 categories, racing on the official 2021 Championship tracks. The Career mode is the perfect way to feel the excitement of being in the shoes of a real rider: players will start to compete in the MX2 championship, joining a team or creating their own (with real sponsors), with the aim to reach the MXGP class and achieve the ultimate glory. Career mode offers enhanced immersion thanks to the Real Transfer windows (where players can switch from Official Teams to customized ones), Contracts, Personal Team and Challenges and additional activities, in which players can compete on both official and new tracks.

For those who really have competitions in their veins, the Multiplayer game mode is back with some improvements too. Now featuring qualifications in online lobbies, players can choose from different kinds of new experiences such as Custom Tracks and Customs Waypoint.

And it’s not over yet: MXGP21 features four Legacy Tracks, iconic races coming from past editions. They are Ottobiano (Italy), Ernée (France), Leon (Mexico) and Agueda (Portugal) and will be available both in Single Player and Multiplayer.

Last but not least, personalization will be as always, the key of the whole game. The Track Editor is back, allowing players to create, share and download the best tracks they can create, along with more than one hundred official brands to choose from in order to make your rider and bike absolutely unique.

MXGP 2021 will be available on November 30, 2021 on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC Steam.

Maxime Renaux: Title Rounds

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing rider Maxime Renaux is heading towards what is starting to look like his first World Motocross Championship. The former European 125 champion has battled through some tough times in this very demanding sport and with massive points lead in the MX2 World Championship goes into the final seven rounds with a lot of confidence and belief.

“I am really happy about my season,” Renaux said. “I’m being pretty consistent now and always work my way to the front if I don’t start good or something. Except for the first race in Orlyonok where I had a little bit of trouble with some sickness that I had to fight my way through, it has all gone well. I’ve only missed out on the podium two times. I’m really happy about it. Now we try to make some improvements over the past two weeks with my starts, so I’m getting better at that and looking to improve on this very topic this weekend.”

Those difficult times, when he was so badly injured that he missed a couple of seasons racing for a title have made him more determined and given him a stronger character. Now going into the final month of the championship battle he is ready for anything.

“I’ve been through some tough years. It all started in 2015. Actually, I was initially riding the European 125 Championship and then in the Junior World Championship I won the 125cc title in 2015. That (2015) season was one of the best years that I had as a young guy and after that I had some big injuries in 2016 and 2017. In 2017 I had big pause in my career because I had to stop for a full year because I had a crash with a rider that jumped on me, and I suffered some stretched nerves, and my left arm was completely paralysed, and I couldn’t move it and I couldn’t react on anything with it. It was a tough year and I really had to fight to make it back. Then 2018 was just a struggle in trying to get back to racing.

“After a year of not racing, I had to go back and find that momentum that I had with racing. It was a tough year, and it was also tough with my arm because it still wasn’t 100-percent. In 2019, my first full season, I was seventh in the World Championship. In 2020 I was third in the World Championship. Now it is 2021 and I am fighting for the World Championship. Yeah, it has been like you said, it has been consistent improvement and I am really looking to keep on going and seeing the bigger picture and improving every year.”

Obviously looking forward to his home Grand Prix this weekend, Renaux will try and add to his victory last weekend in Germany and extend those points lead even more, taking off the pressure as we ended the final few rounds of the title race.

MXGP Carries Momentum into 12th Round of the Series in Lacapelle Marival

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 6 October 2021 – The FIM Motocross World Championship carries momentum into round 12 of the series in Lacapelle Marival for the MXGP of France, following an explosive German Grand Prix which saw Team HRC’s Tim Gajser take back the red plate in MXGP, while in MX2 Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux edged out even further in his maiden title chase.

This season, the MXGP of France is the second of eight back-to-back races and will head to a new venue, with Lacapelle Marival having the honour of hosting a Grand Prix race for the very first time.

Yet Lacapelle Marival is not completely unfamiliar to the paddock, as the majority of the riders have all had a chance to line-up at the French circuit for the well-known pre-season international ‘The Masters of Motocross’. But while this will be the first time that an official MXGP and MX2 World Championship race will take place there, it has previously hosted the MX3 and Women’s Motocross World Championship rounds back in 2009 and 2011.

Now ten years later, Lacapelle will make its debut in what promises to be another exciting Grand Prix as the MXGP and MX2 championships remain tight knit. What’s more the action will also include rounds of the EMX250 and EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing, with Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Nicholas Lapucci looking to extend his championship lead in EMX250, while MRT Racing Team KTM’s Valerio Lata will look to keep control of the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing series after taking the lead at the last round in Germany.

In MXGP, things could not get any closer as Team HRC’s Tim Gajser leads the series once again, but by the slightest margin of just two points. The Slovenian took back the red plate from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings, as he made a stellar return to the top step of the podium after injury.

The next races will be vital for all of the championship contenders, especially Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre who will line-up on home soil for the first time since 2019. For Febvre the home Grand Prix will be important as he will look to repeat his success of the German Grand Prix and get on the podium once again, as well as whittle down the eight-point gap he has to Gajser.

Of course, Jeffrey Herlings will not make this easy as he will look to fight back after an intense weekend in Germany that saw him battle with his teammate Jorge Prado of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, with the pair colliding at the end of the race which put Prado out of race two. The extent of the Spaniard's injuries is unclear, but hopefully we see him line up for the races and continue his fight for race wins.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli will also look to make up for lost ground after a 5-10 result in Germany. Cairoli is still struggling as a result of his crash in Riola Sardo a couple of weeks ago, but with time we should see the 9-time world champion fighting at the sharp end once again.

Meanwhile, Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass continues his positive run this season as he edges closer to another podium finish. Last weekend saw the Latvian battle well inside the top five as he finished fourth overall, just seven points shy of the podium. Jonass has proven that he is strong in hardpack and with the upcoming races all taking place on tracks with harder surfaces, it will be interesting to see what results he can deliver and whether a second podium this season is something he can achieve in this incredibly competitive class.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer and Glenn Coldenhoff had a much more positive weekend in Germany, with the duo finishing fifth and sixth overall. The races saw both riders battle at the sharp end of the field, which is a step in the right direction, as the pair have struggled at times this season.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Kjer Olsen and Arminas Jasikonis will look to improve upon their results in Teutschenthal, after Olsen finished 12th overall and Jasikonis failed to score points in race one and only managed three points in race two.

Some big news coming from the paddock in the previous GP was the announcement that Mathys Boisrame will replace the injured Ivo Monticelli and Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team for the remainder of the season, which will see the MX2 rider move up to the premier class. The details of when Boisrame will line-up for the team are not clear but hopefully we see him at his home Grand Prix or not long after.

Beta SDM Corse MX Team’s Jimmy Clochet, Jordi Tixier of JT911 KTM Racing Team and Benoit Paturel of Honda SR Motoblouz will also look to impress in front of their home fans, as will wildcard riders Maxime Desprey, David Herbreteau and Brice Maylin who will make an appearance for the French Grand Prix.

Alessandro Lupino (ITA, KTM), 195 p.; 10. Ben Watson (GBR, YAM), 192 p.;

Meanwhile in MX2, for the first time Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux will get to enjoy his home Grand Prix and to make things even sweeter, he will do so with the red plate while fighting for the title. For Renaux his first race in front of the French fans is bound to be exciting and hopefully the pressure of wanting to perform well at home will not affect his races.

Looking to challenge Renaux for the top step will be fellow Frenchman Tom Vialle of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing who will look to make a comeback to winning ways after a two-place penalty for not respecting waved yellow flags saw him break his Grand Prix winning streak.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jago Geerts will look for some more clean races in Lacapelle Marival, as he will look to whittle down the 85-point advantage that his teammate Renaux has in the championship. The third Yamaha factory rider, Thibault Benistant will look to put on his best performance at his first French Grand Prix and hopefully be in with a chance to fight for his second podium as an MX2 rookie.

The MXGP of France will also be an important one for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Mattia Guadagnini and Rene Hofer, as Guadagnini will need to deliver some strong results to get back in the title fight as he has now dropped to third on the standings and is 12 points behind Geerts, while for Hofer this weekend will be another opportunity to get on the podium after he celebrated his first MX2 top three finish last weekend in Germany.

Also looking to get back on the podium will be Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jed Beaton and Kay De Wolf. Last weekend both riders finished fifth and sixth overall, so it would be good to see them continue with these positive results and make another podium appearance this season.

Another rider that would be nice to see on the podium is Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee Conrad Mewse, who was incredibly fast in Teutschenthal, though his results did not reflect that as he placed eighth overall. Nonetheless, the Brit has proven several times this season that he is fast, but just needs two consistent results to solidify it.

Also looking to perform well at the upcoming races will be F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s Mikkel Haarup and Roan Van De Moosdijk, as well as Simon Längenfelder and Isak Gifting of Diga Procross GasGas Factory Racing who also showed a glimpse of strong results in Germany despite some crashes and bad luck.

But of course, being in France Stephen Rubini of Team Honda Assomotor will be more motivated than ever to get some good results, meanwhile Calvin Fronvielle will hope to do the same as he will make a wildcard appearance in the MX2 class.

During both MXGP and MX2 races, the rider who crosses the white line painted on the ground at the exit of the first corner will be awarded 1 point. At the end of the season, the 2 riders, one per category, with the most Fox Holeshot points will win the mega prize!

During the MXGP of Germany, we saw Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle dominate both starts as he added two more Fox Holeshots to his already impressive tally. The Frenchman now comfortably leads the competition with nine points, with his teammate Mattia Guadagnini second on three points. Third is Maxime Renaux of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing who also has three points.

Meanwhile in MXGP, the first Fox Holeshot went to race one winner Jorge Prado of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. Whereas in race two, the Fox Holeshot was won by Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre who led the race for most of the heat until he was caught by Team HRC’s Tim Gajser and was forced to settle for second position.

Jorge Prado leads the MXGP Fox Holeshot classifications with 11 holeshots, five points ahead of Romain Febvre, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings down in third on three points.

The Fox Holeshot competition will continue next weekend in Lacapelle Marival at the MXGP of France!

MXGP of Germany gets busy with round two of the 2021 European Junior e-Motocross series

TEUTSCHENTHAL (Germany) 3 October 2021 – After launching on the biggest stage for the sport – the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations – the freshly-charged European Junior e-Motocross series journeyed north to join MXGP for round eleven of the current world championship campaign. The hard-packed Talkessel circuit in Teutschenthal, close to the city of Halle, staged its first Grand Prix since 2019 and also welcomed European Junior e-Motocross series for the second outing of the innovative platform for both ambitious youngsters and the latest electric mini motocross bike tech.

In contrast to the time trial nature of the first event in Mantova last week, the junior riders of KTM SX-E 5, Husqvarna Motorcycles EE 5 and the GASGAS MC-E 5 bikes this time embarked on a Time Practice period and then two 7-minute and 1 lap races around a section of the historic Grand Prix track.

As well as showing off their talents the kids were able to experience the weekend in an MXGP paddock surrounded by the fastest athletes in the MXGP and MX2 classes. They could also tackle elements of a world championship spec race circuit to help advance their learning and potency of the electric machinery.

French youngster Timoteï Cez bonded with the German dirt during Time Practice to take the fastest lap with his KTM SX-E 5. He was almost two seconds quicker than countryman Jordan Cadenel with a Husqvarna Motorcycles EE 5 and the form boded well for the race on Sunday morning.

Cez was unstoppable in the first race. He defeated Austrian Maurice Heidegger, steering a distinctive GASGAS MC-E 5, by a staggering 16.5 seconds. Heidegger had a comfortable distance over Eleu Jose who guided his Husqvarna Motorcycles EE 5 to 3rd spot.

The second race saw an intense battle between Jose and fellow Husqvarna Motorcycles rider Tobias Scharinger. The Austrian pushed the Spaniard all the way to the flag and less than half a second split the rivals at the finish with Eleu Jose taking the win and making sure of the ‘overall’ on combined scores. Elias Eder gassed his KTM SX-E 5 to the third step of the rostrum.

In the fledgling series standings Eleu Jose holds a slender 7-point lead over Eder with Heidegger, Scharinger and Cez closely grouped.

There’s little time to re-plenish for the European Junior e-Motocross series as the contest follows MXGP west to LaCapelle Marival, north of Toulouse, for the Grand Prix of France next weekend and the third round of five.

Gajser and Renaux Back on the Top Step at the MXGP of Germany

TEUTSCHENTHAL (Germany) 3 October 2021 – Round 11 of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Teutschenthal, Germany, delivered one of the most intense Grand Prix’s to date as the championship chase came to blows.

Team HRC’s Tim Gajser took back the series lead in MXGP as he made his return to the top step of the podium following a shoulder injury, while Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux finished the weekend with an overall victory to extend his title lead, as Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle was handed a two-place penalty in race two.

The MXGP of Germany had it all. Incredible racing and very close battles, topped off with the epic support of the large crowd of fans that lined all areas of the old-school circuit, which made for an amazing atmosphere.

In MXGP, the action was unbelievable, and it only confirmed how strong and unpredictable the MXGP class is this season, with the top five championship contenders having close battles in both races.

In race one, it was a Red Bull KTM Factory Racing top three out of the gate as Jorge Prado took the Fox Holeshot from Jeffrey Herlings, Antonio Cairoli and Gajser. Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass and Brian Bogers also started well with the pair sixth and seventh.

Herlings then took away the lead from Prado, as Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre got himself into third behind the pair and started to look for a way to pass Prado for second.

Gajser then caught onto the back of Cairoli as he searched for a way around the Italian, eventually making a pass stick a couple of laps later. Though while this was going on, we saw Prado make a move on Herlings to take over first position.

The Spaniard then stretched over Herlings, as Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff pushed Jonass for sixth. His teammate Jeremy Seewer was also looking to make a move on Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen to move into the top 10.

Febvre then edged closer to Herlings as he searched for an opportunity to make a pass, but after several attempts could not get the job done and was caught out by a hard-charging Gajser who took away third. The Slovenian then went after Herlings who was urged onto the back of Prado and that’s when we saw the intense battle for the win.

There was virtually nothing in it as Prado and Herlings crossed the line, with Prado securing the race win but colliding with his teammate mid-air, which took both down. Herlings was able to walk away from the incident, while Prado had to take a trip to the hospital to receive stitches under his armpit. He did not line-up for race two.

In race two, it was Febvre who clinched the second Fox Holeshot with Seewer, Jonass, Coldenhoff and Gajser just behind. Though a couple of corners later and after some very smart moves, Gajser was up in second.

Herlings started the second race further down the order, though was quick to get Jonass for fourth. Meanwhile Cairoli was even further down as he battled his way up from 14th. The Italian eventually finished the race in 10th.

Febvre continued to lead Gajser, Coldenhoff and Herlings, as the Bullet pushed hard to get around his fellow countryman. It took Herlings seven laps to pass Coldenhoff and after that it seemed like he was happy to settle for solid points than to push forward to get Gajser and Febvre.

Eventually Gajser caught onto the rear wheel of Febvre’s factory Kawasaki, and it took several attempts and block passes for the Slovenian to secure the lead on lap 12. He then got his head down to finish the race 12 seconds ahead of Febvre, with Herlings crossing the line third.

With a 3-1 result, Gajser made his comeback to the top step of the podium, with Herlings second and Febvre securing his fifth podium of the season. And in terms of the MXGP World Championship, the standings could not be any closer, as Gajser has take the red plate back and leads Herlings by just two points, while Febvre is third a further six points behind.

In MX2 race one, it was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle who grabbed the Fox Holeshot ahead of his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Rene Hofer and Renaux. But Hofer was quick to act as he took away the lead from Vialle before the end of the first lap.

Hofer then led Vialle, Simon Längenfelder of DIGA Procross GasGas Factory Racing, Renaux and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Thibault Benistant who started well too. But then the Frenchman went down and was way down the order.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jed Beaton started well in sixth, while Renaux started to apply the pressure onto Längenfelder for third. Though the GasGas rider was not going to back down easy as he was being urged on by his home fans.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Mattia Guadagnini was having a tough start to the race as he made his way from 18th to 14th. Eventually he was able to get back to 13th place.

By lap four Renaux was finally up in third, while Hofer and Vialle continued their close battle. The two KTM riders kept things very close and were within less than a second of one another for 11 laps, until finally Vialle was able to find a way through and make the pass stick.

While the two leaders fought for the win, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jago Geerts and Beaton were able to get around Längenfelder who dropped down to sixth position. The pair then caught onto the back of Renaux and at that point Beaton was faster than both of the factory Yamaha riders.

Vialle then got his head down and finished the race with a win, as Hofer held on to second, while Renaux crossed the line third.

In race two, it was once again Vialle with the Fox Holeshot, this time ahead of Renaux, Benistant, Geerts and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay De Wolf. Beaton was right there as well, as he quickly took fifth from his teammate as Hofer followed behind.

Once again, Guadagnini started the race way down the order and eventually made his way back up to 10th to score some important championship points.

Vialle then continued to lead Renaux, Benistant, Geerts and Beaton, while Längenfelder, Honda Racing Assomotor’s Stephen Rubini and Bike it MTX Kawasaki’s Wilson Todd battled further down the field.

We then saw another battle of the teammates as F&H Kawasaki Racing’s Roan Van de Moosdijk dived down the inside of his teammate Mikkel Haarup to take 11th place and then moments later made a mistake which took Haarup down. Fortunately, the Dane lost only one position to Guadagnini.

Vialle continued to Renaux by 3.718 seconds, while Hofer struggled to get around De Wolf. The two leaders pretty much checked out, as Geerts sat in a distant third, with Beaton looking to keep close.

At one point it looked like Renaux would go for the win but after failing to find a good opportunity to pass, he settled for second which meant that Vialle was the race winner, Renaux was second and Geerts third.

While Vialle crossed the line first, he was penalised two positions for not respecting waved yellow flags which as a result put him third in the race and moved Renaux and Geerts up a position. Due to the penalty, Renaux was declared the overall winner, with Vialle finishing second and Hofer celebrating his first MX2 podium with third overall.

As it stands, Renaux now leads the MX2 World Championship by 85 points over Geerts as Guadagnini drops to third in the championship.
