HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING AND NESTAAN-MX EXTEND SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP

Multi-year contract will see current MX2 leading team continue in the FIM Motocross World Championship into 2025 and beyond

Husqvarna Factory Racing is delighted to announce the extension of its successful partnership with Nestaan-MX. The new multi-year contract will see Nestaan-MX continue as "Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing" in the FIM Motocross World Championship, ensuring an exciting future for both organisations.

Under the leadership of dedicated team manager Rasmus Jorgensen - who is now in his fifth year with the team - Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing is currently enjoying a fantastic season with MX2 riders Kay de Wolf and Lucas Coenen, as well as Mattia Guadagnini in MXGP.

De Wolf and Coenen currently occupy the top two spots of the MX2 championship with a combined nine wins from thirteen championship rounds so far. Furthermore, a combined tally of fifteen podiums between current MX2 Red Plate holder Kay de Wolf and second-placed Lucas Coenen, means Husqvarna currently leads the manufacturers' standings by sixty-six points.

Husqvarna Factory Racing is excited about the continued collaboration with Nestaan-MX, under the ownership of Kay Hennekens, and the expert leadership of Rasmus Jorgensen who has been instrumental in driving the team’s success on and off track.

Rasmus Jorgensen (Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager): "It is a big honour for us to continue writing this story with the Husqvarna brand. Our relationship with the factory has only grown in the last five years, and this is another big milestone for us. 2024 is going really well so far, with excellent support from Kay and all of our partners. I want to thank Kay for his leadership, all my crew members and also all the management at the Pierer Mobility AG as well. Our team is young, but I feel we have set high standards. The plan is to keep pushing for 2025 and beyond. I’m very excited!"

Pit Beirer (Motorsports Director): “We are more than happy to keep Nestaan onboard and continue to push for wins, points and podiums. This partnership extension reinforces the shared vision of Husqvarna Factory Racing and Nestaan-MX, focusing on continued success and the development of future champions. Both teams are excited to build on their established foundation and look forward to achieving new heights together."

WORLDWIDE TV COVERAGE | MXGP OF FLANDERS - TIME TO HIT THE SAND

LOMMEL (Belgium) 26 July 2024 – The 2024 FIM World Motocross Championships head to the deep sand of the Stedelijk Motorcrossterrein Lommel for the MXGP of Flanders in north-eastern Belgium this weekend!

The unforgiving nature of this circuit makes it physically one of the toughest for the riders, and its close proximity to the Dutch border will see plenty of support, helping the top racers from the Netherlands even more than the familiarity of the soft surface!

The MXGP World Championship is currently led by five-time World Champion Tim Gajser, after a stunning win for the Slovenian at the MXGP of Czech Republic, but his closest challenger, and reigning World Champion, Jorge Prado, declared himself “The King of the Sand” at the MXGP of  Sardegna, and the man they call “The Bullet”, Jeffrey Herlings, would dearly love to take that crown back with his local fans right on his shoulder! These three have been inseparable this season, and any one of them could swing the momentum their way this weekend!

The MX2 class should see a similar battle, as the Nestaan Husqvarna teammates Kay de Wolf and Lucas Coenen lead the series, both are absolute demons in the sand, and both will have a healthy and vocal pack of fans urging them on!  The atmosphere could prove to be absolutely out of this world, one you certainly don’t want to miss!

See below where you can find a list of TV channels that will air LIVE and delayed action of the MXGP of Flanders, as well as the 26-minute Behind The Gate magazine show featuring the best moments from the races, exclusive interviews and more.  All of this footage will be available on MXGP-TV.com and via our TV magazine partners following the Grand Prix.

As always, MXGP fans can follow the races LIVE throughout the weekend. All you need to do is log onto www.MXGP-TV.com Saturday and Sunday, from wherever you are in the world.  This could prove to be a decisive GP towards the fate of the Championship titles, never decided until the chequered flag is flown! RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING TO AMPLIFY MXGP PROGRAM WITH DE CARLI REUNION

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing will grow for the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship and for the Grand Prix seasons to come. The multi-title winning squad will reincorporate the Rome-based De Carli team for a return to the previous regime in both MXGP and MX2 categories.

The complete rider roster and array of works KTM SX-F machinery in both GP classes has yet to be confirmed for 2025 but the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing crew will again operate from Austrian and Italian bases for the best training, preparation and competitive network. Team Managers Harry Norton and Davide De Carli will bring their energy and technical expertise to the outfit in pursuit of another premier class crown and yet more acclaim in the MX2 division.

The De Carli team was integrated into the Red Bull KTM family for the 2010 world championship campaign where they won the first of nine titles for the company (in all classes) and the maiden #1 plate with the KTM 350 SX-F. Davide and his staff have continued competing and winning, earning their seventh ‘gold medal’ with Jorge Prado in MXGP last year and are currently vying for their eighth in the premier class.

Davide De Carli, Team Manager: “This is like ‘back to the future’ for us! It’s good to ‘return’ to KTM and to bring two strong structures together again. We have never stopped pushing for wins and podiums at the very highest point of the sport, regardless of the rider, but we have also helped the younger or more inexperienced racers find their way in GPs. It is a line we are excited and motivated to follow. We want to deliver more titles for KTM.”

Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports Director: “It is awesome for us to bring Davide, Claudio and all their staff back into the orange. Their record as a team is almost unbeatable and we know very well their working style and the passion they have for the sport. Taking De Carli back into Red Bull KTM colors means we are in an even stronger position for MXGP.”

IT’S THE RETURN TO SAND RIDING AT LOMMEL FOR THE MXGP OF FLANDERS

LOMMEL (Belgium) 25 July 2024 – It’s time to get the paddle tyres ready for the FIM Motocross World Championship riders as round 14 of the series takes us to the deep sand of the Stedelijk Motorcrossterrein Lommel venue in the north-eastern corner of Belgium for the MXGP of Flanders this weekend!

While it is of course the home Grand Prix for the many Belgian riders that will take part, its close proximity to the Dutch border will bring many fans from The Netherlands to cheer on their heroes, and numerous riders from all nationalities have taken up residence in the area, with many of the top teams making it their base of operations for the GP season.

Belgium is famously home to more World Motocross Champions and Grand Prix winners than any other country, and more MXGP events have been held at Lommel than any other Belgian venue apart from the legendary Namur.  This will be the 11th consecutive year that MXGP has visited the circuit, and the 22nd event held here in total.  The first was back in 1990, a 250cc GP that was won by the determined Finn Pekka Vehkonen.  The circuit has also hosted two memorable MXoN events, the Trophee des Nations in 1981, which was the landmark event that saw the first ever win for the USA in Nations competitions, then the first ever win for Germany in an incredible 2012 Monster Energy FIM MXoN contest!

The current MXGP field has 6 previous Lommel GP winners entered for the event, including four of the top six of all-time!  It is current World Champion, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado, who currently holds the record of four GP wins around the famous sands, although his two major rivals for honours this season, Team HRC’s Tim Gajser and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing main man Jeffrey Herlings, are close behind with three victories each. Herlings has won more individual races than anybody else at Lommel, with eight compared to Prado’s seven and Gajser’s five.  The “big three” will continue their epic battle for the MXGP World Championship after a stunning weekend of racing at Loket!

MX2 will see the two Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing teammates, Kay de Wolf and Lucas Coenen, continue their see-saw duel for the title, with the Dutch rider defending a 46-point lead over his young Belgian rival. Both can expect a solid turnout of their fans to get behind them at Lommel!  De Wolf is the only rider lining up for MX2 to have won races here before, which were actually the first two GP race wins of his career, the first in 2021 when he was still only 16 years old!

The event will also see the resumption of the battle for the EMX250 European Championships, with the top three of the series separated by only 19 points, as Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Mathis Valin lies just 13 ahead of Gabriel SS24 KTM teamster Cas Valk, with Valerio Lata just six points further back for Beddini GASGAS Factory Juniors!

The one-off EMX Open European Championship event will also be at Lommel, with a host of professional riders moving up from their domestic Championships to fight it out on the GP stage.  The class is unrestricted in terms of age and engine size, and has attracted over 50 riders to enter!

After a truly epic MXGP of Czech Republic that saw Tim Gajser take Saturday’s RAM Qualifying Race as well as the overall win, with Jorge Prado second and Jeffrey Herlings third after winning race one and charging through the pack in race two, the prospect of seeing these three titans fight it out in the deep sand of Lommel is truly mouth-watering!

The major factor in all of this is the sand, with only Sardegna and Latvia really giving us an idea of what these three might do in such conditions, and Prado added to the spice by declaring himself the ‘King of the Sand’ in the post-race interview at Riola Sardo! The Spaniard did enjoy a perfect weekend there during his best period of the season so far, but Herlings found winning form at Kegums to stake his own claim as the master of the soft stuff.  Both will need to make ground here, as Gajser’s Loket win saw him stretch his lead to 36 points over Prado, and 55 over Herlings.  There is no doubt that “The Bullet” is back to his brilliant best, and his local fans will be hoping to see more of that on the sort of surface that has seen even more dominance than usual throughout his amazing career.

That said, Jeffrey hasn’t won a GP at Lommel since 2018, as he was denied by Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre in 2021, and hasn’t made it this far into the season since then.  The Dutchman’s wins took place back in 2011 in MX2, and then 2017 & ’18 in MXGP. He also won the Open class at the 2012 ‘Nations, even with him riding the 250 against the world’s best on 450s!  Gajser has won there three times in the MXGP class, once in 2019 and twice in 2020, when MXGP was here three times in the COVID-affected season.  Prado won his only MXGP overall in the other event that year, after winning for three straight seasons in MX2 from 2017 to ’19.

Another rider that is entered for MXGP is Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Jago Geerts, who has been out since getting injured in his MXGP debut back at the opening round in Argentina.  The Belgian has won at Lommel in MX2 for the last three years, and while it will be a different prospect in his return from injury in MXGP, he will certainly be encouraged by his previous success at the venue.

Febvre has been incredibly strong here in recent years, with GP wins in 2021 and ’23, and will hope to get amongst the title contenders in his second event back from injury. Fantic Factory Racing star Brian Bogers claimed his only career GP victory to date at Lommel in 2022, where he shared race wins with his 2024 teammate Glenn Coldenhoff.

The riders currently in fourth and fifth, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Calvin Vlaanderen and Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jeremy Seewer, have both twice been on the podium at Lommel, but yet to taste victory. As well as Coldenhoff, they will be keen to keep their consistent season going and prevent Febvre from fighting back up the Championship order past them!

JM Racing Honda rider Brent van doninck, in his return from injury last weekend at Loket, incredibly became the first Belgian to score points in the MXGP class this season with an impressive ride for 8th overall. In his more favoured terrain, he is likely to push even higher up the order at his home Grand Prix, with a lot of home support behind him!

The battle at the top of the order is not to be missed – who can call themselves the ‘King of the Sand’ and command the Championship momentum after this one?!

MXGP - World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Tim Gajser (SLO, HON), 663 Points;   2. Jorge Prado (ESP, GAS), 627 Points; 3. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 608 Pts; 4. Calvin Vlaanderen (NED, YAM), 471 Pts; 5. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, KAW), 451 Pts; 6. Glenn Coldenhoff (NED, FAN), 389 Pts; 7. Romain Febvre (FRA, KAW), 363 Points; 8. Kevin Horgmo (NOR, HON), 283 Pts; 9. The MX2 World Championship has been a brilliant one so far this season, with the result very much in doubt before every Grand Prix, even if the Championship lead has been consistently held by Dutchman Kay de Wolf since the end of the very first weekend of racing, and his fifth overall victory of the year at Loket was a result of persistent speed and enough patience to deal with the madness around him!

His Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing teammate, Lucas Coenen, has shown just as much speed, if not sometimes more, but hitting the ground again in the Czech Republic halted his impressive run of five race victories when you include the RAM Qualifying Races from both Lombok and Loket.  Looking back to the duels in the sand between the pair in both Sardegna and Latvia, it was Kay who won back on the Mediterannean island, but Lucas who got the better of his teammate to finish second only to his twin brother Sacha in the Baltic State.

With a taste of progress in the Championship still fresh on his lips from his success in Indonesia, and a feeling that he may have the edge on pace with his home crowd behind him, Lucas will certainly be hungry for his first win on home soil, even though De Wolf has undoubted form on this circuit from years gone by. Kay took race wins in both 2021 and 2022, just missing out on overall victory to Jago Geerts on both occasions.

Behind them, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing star Simon Laengenfelder once again missed the chance for his first GP win of the year in Loket as he was hunted down by De Wolf in the final laps, but the German will certainly not give up as he looks to secure at least the bronze medal, and pounce if either or both of the Husqvarna riders slip up as we approach the last third of the season.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing again saw crashes for all three of their riders in the Czech Republic, and although Liam Everts scored a consistent fourth overall, both Andrea Adamo and Sacha Coenen failed to finish in race one, and the Italian could not return for race two, making their title chances now look very slim.  All three will be hungry for race wins, however, and their skills in the sand are not in question, especially Sacha after his overall victory in Latvia!

Monster Energy Triumph Racing still have high hopes of podium success, or even overall  victory, and Mikkel Haarup would dearly love to deliver on a circuit where a lot of their testing has been carried out.

MX2 - World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Kay de Wolf (NED, HUS), 626 Points; 2. Lucas Coenen (BEL, HUS), 580 Pts;  3. Simon Laengenfelder (GER, GAS), 560 Points;  4. Liam Everts (BEL, KTM), 515 Pts; 5. Andrea Adamo (ITA, KTM), 457 Pts;  6. Mikkel Haarup (DEN, TRI), 433 Pts; 7. Rick Elzinga (NED, YAM), 382 Pts; 8. Sacha Coenen (BEL, KTM), 362 Pts; 9. Oriol Oliver (ESP, KTM), 236 Pts; 10. Ferruccio Zanchi (ITA, HON), 229 Pts.

JACK CHAMBERS UPDATE

Bike It Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team's Jack Chambers sends an update to his supporters who have naturally been concerned after his heavy crash during the MXGP of Czech Republic at Loket on Sunday during MX2 Race 1.

"I'm doing alright after the crash and I don't feel too bad; just a sore neck from the whiplash, nothing else. I remember everything up until I hit the ground, but I hit my head pretty hard so everything was kinda blurry there for a couple of minutes until I was put into the ambulance.

"It was a very small mistake; just a matter of wheel placement with the rear wheel. I hit the edge of a kicker on the uphilll before pitlane; it flung my rear end left and I hi-sided so I slapped the ground pretty hard but I definitely don't think it's the worst crash I ever had.

"It's most likely that we will skip Lommel; coming in with an injury to the toughest race of the year is probably not the best idea, but maybe I'll come in the last minute if I feel good. For now I've been doing a lot of therapy; healing with my brain and the rest of my body to get the bloody flowing. I have no concussion symptoms so we should be back for the next round of the British Championship the week after Lommel and then the GP in Sweden. For the rest of the season I want to focus on putting my best foot forward in each race, getting some top-ten finishes and finishing strong with the team."

GAJSER & DE WOLF ADD TO THE HISTORY OF LOKET AT THE MXGP OF CZECH REPUBLIC

LOKET (Czech Republic) 21 July 2024 – With temperatures nearly matching those at the previous two GPs in Indonesia, the daunting slopes of the Loketske Serpentiny circuit presented an even tougher challenge than usual for the riders, and with an incredible crowd on hand to add to the intensity, the MXGP of Czech Republic gave us a memorable weekend for round 13 of the MXGP World Championships!

With some overnight rain adding to the brilliant track preparation, the circuit overlooking the beautiful town of Loket, on the western fringes of the country, stood up to the ordeal it was put through with over 250 riders giving their all over the two GP classes and multiple EMX races.

MXGP World Championship leader Tim Gajser claimed his first ever overall Grand Prix win at the classic Czech circuit, bouncing back from third in race one to claim the second race and victory on the day for Team HRC.

MX2 saw another epic battle throughout the leading positions, and ultimately the red plate holder Kay De Wolf prevailed to take his fifth GP win of the year for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, and extend his points lead over his teammate, and first race winner, Lucas Coenen!

It was all green at the top of the morning Warm-Up time charts as the Kawasaki Racing Team saw Romain Febvre and Jeremy Seewer take the first two positions, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings in third, and yesterday’s RAM Qualifying Race winner Tim Gajser in a lowly ninth.

The green trend continued in the opening MXGP race, as Seewer fought off the challenge from Jorge Prado to claim his fourth Fox Holeshot Award of the year, with De Baets Yamaha man Benoit Paturel running in third early on! While the Frenchman was quickly pounced on by both Gajser and Herlings, Seewer led for several corners before the reigning Champ took control for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing with a forceful move at the bottom of the circuit!  Behind them, Herlings passed Gajser to move into third halfway around the lap, then muscled his way past Seewer to claim second and give chase to Prado!

On the second lap, Gajser also made a move on Seewer, so the big three were out in command once more.  As we have seen before this season, Prado is amazing at riding under pressure, not making a mistake to allow his rivals an easy overtake.  Herlings was finding this as he tried time and again to pass the reigning World Champion.

Their efforts to better each other left Gajser a lonely third, and Seewer a similarly solitary fourth in a consistent ride.  Paturel had to yield to Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Calvin Vlaanderen and Febvre in the second half of the race, but still scored a fine 7th place finish, his best since October 2021!

As for the leaders, Herlings generated one of his piercing bursts of speed to fire alongside Prado and make the Spaniard back off into the next left-hander, after which “The Bullet” then powered away to win by over 8 seconds at the chequered flag.  In his first visit to the track since 2018, he looked to be in dominant form.

The second race started disastrously for the Dutchman, however, as a poor jump from the gate left him having to avoid a first corner crash, then in turn two a domino effect of collisions saw him on the floor!

His main rivals were soon first and second, as Prado rediscovered his starting touch to claim his twelfth Fox Holeshot Award of the year, and Gajser soon moved past Vlaanderen to grab second! Febvre was a solid fourth ahead of Fantic Factory Racing’s Brian Bogers, back from his Indonesian shoulder dislocation, and Team Ship To Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz veteran Valentin Guillod.

All eyes were on Herlings, however, as he sliced through to twelfth on the second lap, before tripping over the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP machine of a sliding Andrea Bonacorsi, clipping the Italian’s back wheel and tipping over again!

Undaunted, the Dutchman was back with the same rider two laps later, and continued to advance this time! As Seewer recovered from his poor start, he clashed with Bogers, who fell from fifth as a result, and suddenly Herlings was up to sixth spot and getting a pit board of “17 seconds to the leader!”  He passed Seewer on lap seven, then crossed the gap to Febvre by lap 14 and made an easy pass for fourth as the Frenchman struggled with a bike problem.

Meanwhile, Gajser had taken the lead, after out-foxing his rival with an inside pass on the cambered corner before the Pit Lane, then actually banging bars as they passed their pit boards! The Slovenian held the inside line and took the lead, to the roar of the many fans who had made the trip up from his homeland! Prado seemed to have no answer, and on a circuit where he had never had overall success before, “Tiga” won the race by three seconds to secure his 48th career Grand Prix victory!

Once more, Herlings stole the limelight as he attacked Vlaanderen on the final two laps, raising excitement with two near crashes as he closed to within striking distance! Ultimately, the Yamaha man held on for third in the race to give him fourth overall, and Herlings had to settle for third on the podium behind Prado and winner Gajser.  It was a stunning Grand Prix all around that anyone present will remember for a long time to come.

They now head to the MXGP of Flanders, where Prado and Herlings will dispute that “King of Sand” title once again, but Gajser now has a 36-point lead over the Spaniard and is no slouch in the soft stuff himself!  What will happen next in this titanic battle for the world title?!

Tim Gajser: “It’s a big one! Especially when you do it on a track where you always struggle you know. Since I’m coming here, I never enjoyed riding that track due to its characteristics. But this first win in many times trying is special. A big thank you to the team as we made many changes to the bike, and it was working great. I was feeling good. Again huge thank you to all my team and everyone around me and yeah it’s a special one!”

Jorge Prado: “I mean, I would say three P2s this weekend starting from Saturday so pretty consistent result-wise. I know I’ve been struggling here a lot with traction and stuff. I didn’t ride very comfortable but tried my best and give it all. I finished P2 and that’s the best I could manage with good points in the Championship. But of course I’m not super happy because w want to catch up on Tim (Gajser) and we lost some points again but it is what it is and the sand riding is coming up. I trained on the sand and grew up riding sand so I’m really looking forward to Lommel next weekend and make a good bounce back.”

Jeffrey Herlings: “The first lap for me was maximum chaos. I mean, Gudagnini crashed in the first turn and I went over him and was still in it in tenth or something and then on the second turn somebody braked and suddenly I hit his rear wheel and crashed. I was dead last and made up 15 places I think and then Bonacorsi got a high-sider line and I turn to go inside and hit his rear wheel again, went over the bar again. But I came back from last again but and nearly made it to third. I got this close. Third overall in the end today which is okay but next one is Lommel and look forward to it!” “

It looked like reigning Champion Andrea Adamo was going to get a confidence lift with the fastest time in Warm-Up, until RAM Qualifying Race winner Lucas Coenen dropped the hammer, and his lap time, on his very last run to claim the top time by 1.9 seconds.  It was an ominous notification of what the teenage Belgian had in his locker heading into the afternoon’s races.

The first race began with Sacha Coenen taking yet another holeshot, in front of his two Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammates, Adamo and Liam Everts! Sadly though, at the start of the second lap, Bike It MTX Kawasaki rider Jack Chambers crashed in front of the Pit Lane and the race had to be stopped as he was treated for concussion.  We all wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

On the restart, Sacha Coenen once more emerged in front to claim his twelfth Fox Holeshot Award of the season, this time with his brother Lucas, who had been buried in the pack before the restart, right in his wheel tracks in second. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 star Rick Elzinga was up into third and looking good on a surface which is not his usual favourite.

On the third lap, Lucas Coenen moved past Sacha into the lead, then the KTM-mounted twin hit the floor to lose second place to Elzinga!

Simon Laengenfelder held third for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, urged on by his many fans who had made the short trip over the nearby German border!  However, Everts battled past him after a couple of attempts, before making a particularly sweet pass on Elzinga! Sadly, the Belgian fell a lap later, and would have to settle for fifth at the flag. Elzinga slipped back to sixth as Sacha Coenen crashed out of the race on lap 12!

In the frantic battle, Mikkel Haarup had worked his way up to third for Monster Energy Triumph Racing, behind Laengenfelder, but a late charge from Kay de Wolf led to a last lap pass by the red plate holder. Nobody could stop Lucas Coenen, however, who won by nearly ten seconds at the flag.

Race two was like a representation of the whole MX2 series so far, with frantic action all through the pack! Passes and crashes were taking place almost every lap, but somehow the series leader prevailed to take the victory again!

The first strange occurrence was no holeshot for Sacha Coenen. Instead, it was Everts who claimed the Fox Holeshot Award this time, only his third of the series, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 new boy Karlis Reisulis held second early on, before being passed by Haarup on the first lap.  Everts suddenly fell on the first corner of the second lap, but recovered quickly enough to re-pass Haarup on the big right-hander alongside the start straight!

That corner would be a problem for Haarup, as he was later passed there by both Laengenfelder and Lucas Coenen, on his way to a fifth-place finish.  De Wolf had advanced steadily, past an impressive Reisulis on lap six, then Haarup a lap later.  He had pressure from his teammate, who had started poorly, until Lucas collided with the bank coming out of turn two and crashed heavily!

Laengenfelder reeled in Everts, to take a loudly cheered leading position from lap eight, and he looked in control on his favoured hard-pack, but De Wolf suddenly lit the afterburners, battling back and forth with Everts for second place! Finally getting the pass to stick on lap 13, their battle had brought them to Laengenfelder’s rear wheel, and with a stunning move on lap 15 the Dutchman took a convincing win in brilliant style, depriving the German of his first GP victory of the year in the process!

With Everts third, Lucas took fourth from Haarup to finish third overall. With the deep sand track of Lommel on the horizon, the battle between the top two in the series, the battling Nestaan Husqvarna teammates, could prove to be sensational in what is the Belgian’s home GP!  With 46 points between them the fight is still far from over!

The MXGP of Flanders is a mouth-watering prospect, and with the two Championship scraps finely poised, you do not want to miss a single wheel turning! Tune in, or better still join us in person, on the 27th & 28th of July!

Kay de Wolf: “It was amazing to get the victory. I was a bit emotional on that podium. From last year I was in so much pain standing on the podium and also in 2018 when I missed the EMX85 win and finished 2nd so I’m so happy to finally get the win here as this place is amazing. I couldn’t do it without this team. They do a great job! My mechanics yesterday had to do so much job to the bike as it was in bad shape after my crash so big shout out to them, I appreciate it a lot!”

Simon Laengenfelder: “It was a good one! Nice to bounce back with a good physical and fitness level. It’s a shame to miss on the win in the second race but Kay was just a little bit faster. We need to work a little bit more but we make small steps in the right direction ad hopefully we’ll be at the top soon”

Lucas Coenen: “For the first race nothing to say as it was good. In the second race, my stsart was good but got pushed wide from the inside found myself far but I came back well and was behind Kay (de Wolf) and wanted to pass him. It was a bit sketchy at some points but then I crashed and try to come back as fast as possible. Now we don’t quit and want to go to Lommel to win so see you next week! ”
