HOME HERO SEEWER AND MXGP LEADER GAJSER SET THE STAGE FOR THE MXGP OF SWITZERLAND PRESENTED BY IXS

FRAUENFELD (Switzerland) 18 April 2025 – The MXGP of Switzerland Presented by iXS officially opened today in Frauenfeld with a packed Opening Press Conference, setting the stage for a thrilling Easter weekend of racing in the heart of Switzerland.

The proceedings began with a special Swiss Moto presentation, exclusively unveiling the 2025 MXoN Team Switzerland jersey, and sharing the team’s vision for this year’s competition. Swiss MXoN Team Manager Matt Rebeaud, alongside Jeremy Seewer from Aruba.it Ducati MX Team, spoke of the determination to bring the best riders to the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Crawfordsville, Indiana in the USA. Rebeaud also introduced the federation’s dedicated support staff with Rolf Enz, Swiss Moto CEO and member of the board, Swiss MXoN Team Advisor Diego Clement, and Team Coordinator Fabian Tellenbach and emphasised their ambition to place Team Switzerland among the world’s best.

Matt Rebeaud: “We’re a small country, but we have a big heart and strong athletes. This weekend is key to assessing our talent pool, and we’re proud to present our new jersey that represents the different moto categories under one identity.”

Jeremy Seewer added: “It’s always an honour to represent my country. I’m excited about the project and the opportunity to compete in the U.S. later this year. If we can stay healthy and perform at our best, a top-five finish is a realistic goal—and who knows, maybe even the podium.”

Following the Swiss Moto segment, the Official Opening Press Conference of the MXGP of Switzerland presented by iXS welcomed home hero Jeremy Seewer, reigning red plate holder Tim Gajser from Team HRC, and the event organizer Willy Laederach.

Willy Laederach, a driving force behind the Swiss event, expressed his pride:
“It wasn’t easy to make it happen again, but thanks to an incredible team of over 460 volunteers, we're back. We may not have the most modern track in the world, but we have a passion and a public that make it special. We are grateful to Infront Moto Racing, the FIM, and of course, to the riders who choose to race in Switzerland.”

Jeremy Seewer spoke about the emotional value of racing at home, just minutes from where he grew up:
“This is always a special race for me. I raced here as a kid and now I get to do it again in front of the fans—it’s unique. Of course, the track is different, but we embrace it. A huge respect to Willy and his team for making it happen.”

He also reflected on the balance between pressure and performance:
“It’s a busy weekend for me. Everyone wants a piece of you—media, fans, partners—but I try to enjoy it and structure my schedule so I can stay focused. It’s stressful, yes, but I see it as a privilege. The energy from the crowd is powerful, and I hope I can use that as fuel to close the gap to the front runners.”

Tim Gajser, fresh from his commanding 1-1 victory in Trentino, arrives in Switzerland with momentum and confidence:
“It was an amazing weekend in Trentino—perfect result, amazing fans, great atmosphere. But now it’s a new weekend and a different kind of track. It’s tight, technical, but I like it. Last year the rain made it really challenging, but those are the conditions where I feel strong.”

On his approach to the championship and consistency as the red plate holder, he added:
“With many GPs in the season, consistency is everything. You can’t afford to make big mistakes. I’ve learned when to push and when to settle, and that comes with experience. Of course, I always want to win but being smart and knowing when to manage a race is what makes the difference over the season.”

The MXGP of Switzerland Presented by iXS promises to be a pivotal round in both the MXGP and MX2 championships, with passionate fans ready to cheer on the sport’s top stars in Frauenfeld.

DAVID LUONGO EDITORIAL | MXGP MAG ISSUE #137

Dear MXGP Fan,

As we just passed the first quarter of the 2025 MXGP season, you will have the opportunity in this month magazine to have a recap on the four last Grand Prix that took place.

After a fantastic opening round in Argentina, the MXGP came back to Cózar, where the final of the 2024 season took place. It has been a very challenging weekend as we faced terrible weather conditions during the 10 days prior the event but also during the weekend. What makes our sport so special is probably the fact that we ride in whatever conditions we are facing and I am very proud that our team, the organizer, and all the stakeholders were able to bring this event to its term, delivering one of the muddier MXGP race that will stay in the history.

One week later, Saint Jean D’Angely was hosting the MXGP of Europe, and the French fans answered the call of the first of the two Grand Prix that will take place in France this year (the second one being Ernée in upcoming May). The collaboration with the FFM and our historical organizers in France continues to get stronger and targeting long-term growing for Motocross with very good quality of events.

From the French hard ground soil, we then moved to the deep sand of Riola Sardo (Italy), where we had the pleasure to see great races in MX2 and MXGP. This track remains probably one of the most demanding of the calendar and the first sand track of the season.

Finally last weekend, the most awaited MXGP of Trentino, in Pietramurata rose the bar for one more year. More than 230 riders participated to the event competing between the 125cc and 250cc European Championships, MX2 and MXGP World Championship. Spectators came from all over Europe to enjoy the breathtaking scenary of the region surrounding the track, situated near Lake of Garda. Italian fans could enjoy the comeback of Antonio Cairoli on the Ducati, and the Slovenian fans turned this race home Grand Prix for Tim Gajser as they came massively to support him!

On the racing side, the MXGP hierarchy starts to take shape with Tim Gajser who made a gap of 39 points on Romain Febvre after five Grand Prix. But there are still 900 points to be distributed so the road is still very long for the Tim Gajser. Romain Febvre is showing fantastic speed, and you cannot doubt that Maxime Renaux, Glen Clodenhoff and Jeffrey Herlings, who is coming back from injury and more other riders will continue to put the maximum of pressure on him. In MX2, we had until now fantastic races with many top riders who can compete for the win, in fact 8 different riders won the first 10 races of the season, which gives us great expectations for the rest of the season!

Now it is time for Frauenfeld to host the MXGP of Switzerland presented by iXS and the last of this triple header Grand Prix.

See you in Switzerland.

THE MXGP OF SWITZERLAND PRESENTED BY iXS READY TO GIVE THE SWEETEST EASTER TREAT THIS WEEKEND

FRAUENFELD  (Switzerland) - 17 April 2025 – The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship has travelled gradually northward over the last two weekends, from Sardegna to Trentino, and now it concludes its first three-week run with a 450km trip around the Alps to the ancient city of Frauenfeld, and the Schollenholz circuit, for round six, the MXGP of Switzerland Presented by iXS!

One of ten venues to host a Motocross Grand Prix in Switzerland, the Frauenfeld area has used three different circuits in its history, which began in 1981 with a 125cc Grand Prix, won by the legendary Eric Geboers. From 2016 to 2018 a circuit nearer to the town was used, with Jeffrey Herlings taking MXGP class victories in each of the last two years there. Swiss heroes Arnaud Tonus and Jeremy Seewer won individual races in either class in 2017, although Benoit Paturel took his only Grand Prix victory in MX2 that year.

In the last three years the racing has returned to the grassy slopes at the highest point of the town and saw victories in 2023 for French Yamaha riders Maxime Renaux and Thibault Benistant, with last year’s mixed conditions bringing wins for Tim Gajser and Kay de Wolf.

Gajser returns to the site of his dominant double win last September with a healthy 39-point Championship lead for Honda HRC, while De Wolf also wears the red plate in MX2 for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing! As always in Motocross, however, the races are far from foregone conclusions on this deceptively tricky circuit.

Seewer will be going all-out to get his fans cheering as he leads the Fox Holeshot standings on his new Aruba.it Ducati Factory MX Team machine, and is aiming to lift himself from tenth in the series, while Valentin Guillod, a private Yamaha rider this season, has scored the best Swiss race finish of the year with a fifth place in Argentina. Kevin Brumann is the top Husqvarna rider in the series for MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing, and Tonus will race his #4 Yamaha as a wildcard for one more crack at his home GP!

Both classes have a large entry list with several Swiss wildcards, and in MX2 Mike Gwerder would seem to have the best chance of home success for the HTS KTM Racing Team.  The MX2 Championship opened up a little at the Monster Energy MXGP of Trentino, but the top four riders are still separated by just 28 points, with everything to play for!

The EMX250 European Championship lost its two-stroke Wozniak MX Racing Team hero Adrien Petit to injury last week, leaving the way clear for VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 rider Janis Reisulis to take the red plate. He has a 16-point lead from JM Racing Honda new boy, and reigning EMX125 Champion, Noel Zanocz.  So it’s Latvia versus Hungary at the top of EMX250, although the tall figure of Nico Greutmann will be looking for a good result on home ground for his Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna team.

Another Hungarian, Aron Katona, has kept the red plate in the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing Championship for Racestore KTM Factory Rookies despite a difficult Trentino, with fast Italian Francesco Bellei second for Fantic Factory Racing EMX125. The Swiss fans will cheer 125cc rookie Ryan Oppliger to great heights if he can repeat his good starts from previous races!

The MXGP of Switzerland Presented by iXS should provide a weekend of close and tough racing for the sixth round of the series! Be sure not to miss it!

It’s been a case of Tim Gajser versus the French contingent in MXGP so far, as the Honda HRC man has taken three double-race win GP victories so far in 2025, with Maxime Renaux for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre taking the other wins so far.  It’s the man in green who is giving chase in the Championship, with two GP race wins and two Qualifying Race victories, it has only been the odd poor start and a broken wheel which has prevented Febvre from getting closer, but we all know the tough former Champ will never give up on a circuit where he took third overall in 2023!

Gajser was seriously impressive in last year’s Swiss round, while Jeffrey Herlings took second overall for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.  Although the Dutchman is still recovering from his off-season knee injury, his fellow factory KTM man Lucas Coenen has shown some great speed, but he had one of the worst days of his season in MX2 at Frauenfeld last year and will be out to improve at this year’s event.

Third in the points table is Glenn Coldenhoff, on a great run with three podiums so far for Fantic Factory Racing.  Fifth behind Coenen is Renaux, the 2023 MXGP class winner here, whose title campaign took a few hits over the Italian rounds. For sure he will be looking to bounce back, while Ruben Fernandez will also be looking to capitalise on the hard-pack to continue his rise up the order for Honda HRC. He looked good here on return from injury at the end of 2024.

Hopes are high that Mattia Guadagnini could return from injury to join Seewer for the Aruba.it Ducati Factory MX Team, and Isak Gifting will make a late decision on his participation for JK Yamaha after his Trentino crash left him heavily bruised.

50 riders are entered for the MXGP class, so once more the circuit will be full of snarling 450s, in front of a typically boisterous Swiss crowd!

MXGP - World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Tim Gajser (SLO, HON), 274 Points; 2. Romain Febvre (FRA, KAW), 235 Points; 3. Glenn Coldenhoff (NED, FAN), 196 Pts; 4. Lucas Coenen (BEL, KTM), 176 Points; 5. Maxime Renaux (FRA, YAM), 164 Points; 6. Ruben Fernandez (ESP, HON), 148 Pts; 7. Kevin Horgmo (NOR, HON), 137 Pts; 8. Andrea Bonacorsi (ITA, FAN), 122 Points; 9. Calvin Vlaanderen (NED, YAM), 102 Pts; 10. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, DUC), 99 Pts.

As the Championship leader’s red plate finally stayed in one place after a GP weekend, namely on the front of Kay de Wolf’s Nestaan Husqvarna, MX2 continues to be unpredictable with the seventh, and then the eighth GP race winners of the season, just ten races old, coming at the Monster Energy MXGP of Trentino!

De Wolf extended his lead with consistent finishes and misfortune to others, and he now has a 12-point gap over Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder.  The German won race two here last season to finish second overall to the Dutchman, who was also on the podium in 2023. With many fans likely to cross the border to get behind him, could this be the weekend when the German finally takes an overall victory again?

Andrea Adamo took his second GP win this season at Trentino, and is now just six points behind his fellow Red Bull KTM Factory Racing pilot, with podium form here from 2023.  Liam Everts suffered the most in Trentino with a DNF due to crash damage in race two, and is now fourth for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, 28 points behind his teammate in the lead. In mixed conditions last year, Everts had brilliant speed here to hound De Wolf for the second race win, having to settle for third overall on the day

Thibault Benistant finally added a GP race win to his season’s scorebook in Trentino, after also scoring two Qualifying Race wins for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2. The 2023 MX2 winner could be a real threat at Frauenfeld, and needs the points to stop all the Austrian machines ahead of him from sprinting further away in the series.  Sacha Coenen sits sixth in the standings for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing after again crashing out of the lead last weekend, but Camden McLellan took the first ever GP race win for both himself and Monster Energy Triumph Racing, and after surviving a nasty second race crash, he is hungry for more of that winning feeling in Switzerland!

The red smoke flares will be blazing for all the Swiss heroes, and atmosphere will again be electric for the MXGP of Switzerland! Watch it all on MXGP-TV.com or come and join us live for an Easter Treat to beat any chocolate you can buy… even from Switzerland itself!

MX2 - World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Kay de Wolf (NED, HUS), 231 Points; 2. Simon Laengenfelder (GER, KTM), 219 Points; 3. Andrea Adamo (ITA, KTM), 213 Pts; 4. Liam Everts (BEL, HUS), 203 Pts;  5. Thibault Benistant (FRA, YAM), 171 Pts; 6. Sacha Coenen (BEL, KTM), 169 Pts; 7. Camden McLellan (RSA, TRI), 155 Pts; 8. Cas Valk (NED, KTM), 151 Pts; 9. JEREMY SEEWER – COMING HOME

For Ducati factory rider, Jeremy Seewer, the 2025 season might not have gone to plan so far, but you know the rider from Switzerland is always a slow starter and builds his season as each round is run. A multi-time World number two, Seewer will head to his home Grand Prix this weekend wanting to have his best GP of the season.

Last weekend at the Trentino circuit in Italy, the Ducati man finish a disappointing 15th overall, after finishing third in the Saturday qualifier. He knows that the speed is there, he just needs to put it together as he and his machine have more time in testing and racing.

“Not the way I wanted to end what was actually a very positive weekend. Like I said last week in Riola, we made a lot of progress in the second moto, and we brought that momentum here. Finishing P3 in the qualifying race was a big step forward. The first moto went really well. I put in some strong laps, felt better and better as the race went on, and was able to keep the front guys in sight. The second moto was a shame. I had a great start, running third into the first corner, but then someone’s roost hit my front wheel, and I lost it - nothing I could do. I ended up riding the entire moto without a front brake, trying to salvage some points, but it just wasn’t possible. Overall, it was a very positive weekend, and we can continue building speed and confidence from here.”

A week prior in the deep sand of Riola, it was 14th overall, and again, there were good moments and difficult moments. One thing you can count on with Seewer though, he will fight through the tough times and come out at the end with some much better performances.

"We’re here to work and develop, and there are many positive things to take away from this race. First of all, the two holeshots and leading the first lap for Ducati but the most important is that we made great progress this weekend, even though Riola is one of the toughest tracks of the season. In the first moto, we had a small issue, and I had to stop to fix it. But in the second moto, we turned it around and finished P9, finding good feelings. Overall, we had good speed, made big improvements and took a significant step forward and I think it will also work well on hard pack. I can’t wait for Arco di Trento, and I'm really excited to race alongside Tony."

Down in 10th position in the World MXGP standings, you get the feeling we might see something a little special from Seewer in Switzerland this coming weekend. The veteran of 14 years racing in the Grand Prix’s, he will stand tall for his countrymen, and do not be surprised to see him score his best result of the season.

ACCELERATING SUSTAINABILITY: MXGP’S COMMITMENT TO ECO-FRIENDLY RACING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EMPIRELOGOMATS

The FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) is renowned for its exhilarating off-road motocross races, captivating audiences worldwide both on-site and via television broadcasts. Beyond the adrenaline-pumping action, MXGP has established itself as a leading force in environmental sustainability within motorsports. The championship has implemented proactive measures to minimize its ecological footprint, setting an example for the broader motorsports industry. Essential to this mission is the collaboration and partnership with Empirelogomats.be, since 2008 a key partner from Infront & the FIM providing eco-friendly solutions that enhance the championship’s green initiatives.

MXGP’s Proactive Environmental Strategies

The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) provides a regulatory framework for sustainability, and MXGP takes an active role in implementing and advancing these guidelines. The championship has integrated comprehensive environmental measures into its operations, focusing on areas such as noise reduction, soil protection, and waste management. By adhering to the standards set by the FIM Environmental Code, MXGP ensures that each event is conducted with an emphasis on ecological responsibility.

Empirelogomats: Enhancing Sustainability on the Ground

A pivotal aspect of MXGP’s environmental efforts is its partnership with Empirelogomats.be. This Belgian company and passionate pioneer specialises in producing high-quality environmental mats that are essential for protecting soil and surrounding ecosystems during events. These mats are strategically placed in team tents and paddock areas to prevent contaminants like oil and fuel from seeping into the ground. Empirelogomats.be ‘ dedication to environmental responsibility is underscored by certifications such as FIM compliance, REACH compliant, TÜV & Sedex certification, and ISO 9001 accreditation. Their products are not only effective in contamination prevention but also embody sustainability through their design and manufacturing processes. Empirelogomats.be complies to the very high and strict European environmental regulations. (REACH). Almost 20 years they have an ongoing battle against piracy and the non-use of genuine environmental carpets.

Comprehensive Environmental Measures in MXGP

MXGP’s sustainability initiatives encompass a wide range of actions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of motocross racing. These include:

Noise Pollution Control

Specialists conduct rigorous sound measurements to ensure motorcycles comply with prescribed decibel limits, effectively reducing noise pollution. By implementing strict regulations on engine noise, MXGP contributes to reducing disturbances to local communities and wildlife surrounding race tracks.

Soil and Biodiversity Protection

The mandatory use of environmental mats in service areas prevents soil contamination, safeguarding local ecosystems. Additionally, designated zones for refueling and maintenance ensure that oil spills and fuel leakage are minimized, preserving the integrity of the terrain.

Waste Management and Recycling Initiatives

One of MXGP’s most significant environmental commitments is its comprehensive waste management program. Designated washing stations with proper drainage are established at race venues, preventing toxic run-off into nearby soil and water sources. Teams are also required to use biodegradable cleaning agents for their motorcycles and equipment.

MXGP places a strong emphasis on recycling, with dedicated collection points for plastics, metals, and hazardous materials, including used tires and motor oil. At each event, organizers ensure that all recyclable waste is separated and disposed of responsibly. Used oil and lubricants are collected and processed through certified recycling programs to prevent them from contaminating the environment. These efforts demonstrate MXGP’s commitment to maintaining sustainability at every level of the competition.

Sustainability in Motorsports: A Broader Perspective

While MXGP is at the forefront of green initiatives in motocross, sustainability has become a growing priority across the entire motorsports industry.

Reducing Carbon Emissions

Many motorsport organizations are now actively working to reduce their carbon footprints. Formula 1, for example, has committed to being carbon neutral by 2030, while MotoGP is transitioning toward sustainable fuels to lower its greenhouse gas emissions. Electric racing series are also emerging to add another side of environmental awareness.

Motorsport events worldwide are increasingly shifting towards sustainable logistics and transportation methods. The use of biofuels, hybrid technologies, and alternative energy sources in team operations has become more prevalent.

Eco-Friendly Track Design and Management

Another key aspect of sustainability in motorsports is track design. Many racing circuits are now integrating sustainable practices into their construction and maintenance. Solar panels, rainwater collection systems, and improved waste management strategies are being implemented at numerous tracks to ensure they operate in a more environmentally responsible manner.

In motocross, natural terrain circuits help minimise the environmental impact of track construction. By utilizing the existing landscape rather than making drastic modifications, MXGP and can reduce deforestation and soil degradation.

Empowering the Next Generation: The FIM Ride Green Cup

Education and awareness are pivotal to MXGP’s sustainability mission. In the dynamic world of motocross, an initiative to introduce environmental consciousness among young riders has been created: the FIM Ride Green Cup. Held annually in conjunction with the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, this program emphasises the importance of sustainability in motorsport, nurturing a generation of eco-aware athletes.

Through lectures, tree planting and challenges, the initiative aims to engage young riders in activities that promote environmental stewardship and instils a sense of responsibility. Therefore highlighting the importance of sustainable practices in motorsport. By engaging young riders and their teams the initiative promotes a culture of environmental responsibility that extends beyond the racetrack

A Unified Vision for a Greener Future

A Unified Vision for a Greener Future

The collaboration between MXGP and Empirelogomats.be is in direct alignment with the growing trend of sustainability in motorsports. By integrating eco-friendly solutions and adhering to stringent environmental standards, MXGP ensures that the excitement of motocross racing coexists harmoniously with ecological preservation. As the championship continues to evolve and grow, its dedication to sustainability serves as a model for the broader motorsport community, demonstrating that high-octane entertainment and environmental responsibility can indeed go hand in hand.

Conclusion

Sustainability in motorsports is no longer just a consideration—it is a necessity. As one of the premier off-road racing championships in the world, MXGP’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint set an important precedent for other motorsport disciplines. Through strategic partnerships like that with Empirelogomats, strict waste management practices, noise reduction measures, and educational programs, MXGP continues to push the boundaries of sustainability in motocross.

With a commitment to environmental stewardship and continuous improvements, MXGP is proving that motorsports and sustainability can go together, ensuring a greener future for the sport and the planet alike.
