PIETRAMURATA (Trentino, Italy) 19th April 2026 – Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Dolomites, the Round of Trentino once again delivered a spectacular stage for Europe’s rising stars. The hardpack circuit of Pietramurata, known for its technical layout, great elevation and unforgiving surface, challenged riders across both EMX250 and EMX125 presented by FMF Racing classes, demanding a solid race craft at every lap. With perfect conditions and a passionate crowd lining the hillsides, the weekend provided a true test of talent and resilience, where momentum could shift in an instant and every mistake was costly.
Dominance and resilience defined the weekend in Trentino, as Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki’s Jake Cannon secured his first overall victory in EMX250 with a consistent 2-2 performance, while Norman KTM Factory Rookies’ Moritz Ernecker delivered a flawless display in EMX125, sweeping both races for a perfect 1-1. Behind them, MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing’s Nicolai Skovbjerg impressed with a race win and second overall in EMX250, as Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki’s Francisco Garcia salvaged a remarkable podium, probably his hardest third overall of his career to grab, while in EMX125, Norman KTM Factory Rookies’ Ricardo Bauer and Yamaha Europe Monster Energy MJC’s Sleny Goyer completed the podium after strong and consistent rides across both races.

The opening EMX250 race delivered immediate intensity as Motovation Motosport Husqvarna’s Dean Gregoire charged into the first turn to take the early lead. Ill fate struck instantly as Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team’s Simone Mancini and MRT Racing Team Beta’s Alexis Fueri both crashed heavily, forcing the Italian and Frenchman out of the race. Gregoire, meanwhile, emerged with the early advantage, quickly establishing himself at the head of the field.
Behind him, Francisco Garcia was forced to fight from outside the top five after a modest start, coming through the opening lap around seventh. However, Garcia wasted no time asserting himself, slicing through the pack as the field powered up the hill for the first time. By the end of the opening lap, Garcia had already moved into contention, while RFME Spain National Team’s Adria Monné and KTM Sarholz Racing Team’s Leon Rudolph were firmly in the mix just behind the early leader.
Further back, Triumph-mounted Joe Brookes and Dirt Store Triumph Racing’s Billy Askew were locked in a fierce battle as the race began to take shape. The decisive moment came when Gregoire made an error and ran off track, handing Garcia the opportunity he needed. Garcia seized it instantly, moving into the lead and from that point on controlling the race with authority.
Behind him, the fight for the podium intensified. Jake Cannon was on a relentless charge, working his way through the field with impressive pace. After picking off riders ahead, Cannon closed in on Gregoire and made a decisive move to move into podium contention. Askew also pushed forward and remained in the fight but was unable to maintain the momentum needed to challenge for the top positions.
In the closing stages, Nicolai Skovbjerg entered the picture, showing strong late-race speed as he passed both Gregoire and Askew to move into fourth. Out front, Garcia remained unchallenged, delivering a composed and commanding performance to take the win. Cannon continued his late surge and, in a dramatic final push, passed Monné on the last lap to secure second place, with Monné completing the podium behind the Kawasaki duo.
Race 2 brought an entirely different story and an eventful of drama as Garcia, the Race 1 winner, encountered a major issue on the start line. Unable to get his bike going as the gate dropped, Garcia was left stranded while the field disappeared into the first turn. Although he eventually got underway, the Spaniard rejoined at the very back, facing an almost impossible task.
Out front, Fueri bounced back from his Race 1 disappointment with a perfect start, grabbing the early lead ahead of Skovbjerg and GABRIEL SS24 KTM FACTORY JUNIORS’ Gyan Doensen, as the front group quickly began to break away. Fueri initially held firm under pressure, but Skovbjerg was carrying superior pace and soon made his move, taking over the lead and beginning to build a gap at the front.
Behind them, Cannon once again found himself needing to fight through the pack after an average start. Showing impressive determination, Cannon picked off riders one by one, moving himself into contention for a podium finish. Askew and Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM’s Mads Fredsoe were locked in a tight battle just behind the leaders, while Brookes also featured strongly before his race came to a premature end with a DNF due to technical issues, reshuffling the order.
Further back, Garcia was producing one of the standout rides of the weekend. Setting the fastest laps on track, Garcia carved his way through the field from last position, steadily climbing back into contention and salvaging valuable points.
At the front, Skovbjerg continued to extend his advantage, controlling the race with confidence. Behind him, the battle for second intensified as Cannon closed in on Doensen. With relentless pressure, Cannon eventually made a decisive move to take over second place, a pass that would prove crucial not only for the race result but also for the overall victory.
In the final laps, Garcia’s remarkable comeback continued as he fought his way into the points, eventually climbing to twelfth place—an incredible recovery given his situation at the start. At the chequered flag, Skovbjerg secured a commanding victory, while Cannon’s late charge earned him second ahead of Doensen in third.
Across the two races, consistency proved decisive. Cannon’s 2-2 finishes secured the Australian his first overall victory with 44 points, narrowly ahead of Skovbjerg on 43. Garcia’s dominant Race 1 win combined with his heroic recovery in Race 2 ensured he completed the overall podium with 34 points, retaining the red plate after one of the most dramatic and hard-fought rounds of the season.

The opening EMX125 race unfolded with tight battles throughout the field, particularly inside the top ten where positions changed constantly during the early laps. At the front, however, Moritz Ernecker made the perfect start and immediately took control of the race, leading from the opening lap and setting a strong, consistent pace.
Behind him, the fight for second quickly became the focal point. Sleny Goyer moved into the position after capitalising on a small mistake from a rival and began to settle into a strong rhythm. Goyer showed confidence and consistency, gradually building a gap over those behind while trying to stay within reach of the leader.
Ricardo Bauer positioned himself firmly inside the top three, delivering a composed ride as he held off pressure from the chasing group. Fantic Factory Racing EMX’s Bertram Thorius and 737 Performance KTM D’STOCK41’s Léo Diss-Fenard remained close throughout but were unable to break into the podium positions despite strong efforts.
Further down the order, the battles remained intense, with multiple position changes as riders fought for points, but at the front, Ernecker remained in complete control. The Austrian never put a wheel wrong, maintaining his advantage from start to finish to secure a convincing victory and his third win of the season.
Goyer held on to second with a strong and consistent ride, while Bauer completed the trio in third after keeping the pressure behind at bay.
Race 2 brought a different challenge, with early drama as Thorius was caught out in the opening moments, immediately dropping out of contention and leaving himself with a mountain to climb. At the front, however, it was once again Ernecker who nailed the start to perfection, storming into the lead and immediately asserting control over the race.
KTM’s Lucas Leok slotted into second place in the early laps, with MRA Racing Team’s Emil Ziemer close behind in third, while Bauer and MCV Motorsport – TM Moto’s Riccardo Pini were also well positioned inside the top five as the field settled into its rhythm. Ernecker wasted no time in building an advantage, already stretching a gap of several seconds within the opening laps, underlining once again his dominance and consistency at the front.
Further back, Goyer endured a difficult start, finding himself buried deep in the pack and forced into recovery mode from outside the top ten. Lap by lap, Goyer began to make progress, pushing aggressively and finding his way through traffic on a circuit where overtaking was far from easy. Meanwhile, Fantic Factory Racing EMX’s Gennaro Utech suffered a setback with a crash mid-race, dropping down the order and adding to the intensity of the battles just outside the top positions.
As the race progressed, the fight for second place began to evolve. Bauer steadily closed in and eventually made his move, finding a way past Leok to take over the position. From there, Bauer maintained strong pace to secure second, while Leok regrouped to hold onto third under pressure from Ziemer, who remained consistently within striking distance but unable to find a way through.
In the closing stages, Goyer’s comeback continued as he climbed into sixth place, salvaging valuable points after his poor start, while Pini secured a solid top-five finish on home soil. Up front, however, there was no stopping Ernecker. The Austrian delivered another flawless performance, leading every lap and controlling the race from start to finish to complete a dominant 1-1 result for the weekend.
With two race wins, Ernecker secured maximum points and the overall victory with 50 points, ahead of Bauer in second on 42 points and Goyer, whose recovery ride in Race 2 ensured he completed the overall podium with 37 points.
Moritz Ernecker: “It was a really good day for me. Four podiums from four races and three overall wins, so I’m very happy with how everything is going. The goal was to stay consistent and keep the momentum, and to still be leading the championship at this point is very satisfying."
