Bucharest (Romania) 9 July 2023 – The 2023 FIM Junior Motocross World Champions and World Cup Winner have come to an end at the TCS Racing Park near Bucharest, Romania and after intense battles and great show it was the French rider 737 Performers GASGAS’s Mathis Valin who was crowned this year’s 125cc Junior World Champion, while Dani Heitink became the 85cc Junior World Champion and the young Latvian rider Patricks Cirulis dominantly won the 65cc World Cup.

In the Nations standings, it was Team Italy who finished at the top in front of Team Netherlands second and Team France third.

The racing day started by an amazing Opening Ceremony where the National Anthem was sung by Silvia Bordainu to begin the festivities with an incredible Aero Show that amazed everyone present. Many prices were handed out during the Ceremony with Romanian Motorcycling Federation President Cristian Muresan who offered celebratory plaquetes to FIM Junior Motocross World Championship General Manager Patricia Maskarova and Organizers Cristian Popescu and Adrian Raduta. With the ceremony coming to an end, it was time for all the races to start and display a great show.
 

In 125cc race one, it was Mathis Valin who clinched the first Fox Holeshot of the day and continued with the lead to display a confident performance and never give up the lead to win race one. One of the big contenders and the one who topped the Qualifying race on Saturday, MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Martin Reisulis went down early which hindered his chance to win the race but still managed 7th place in the end with an incredible comeback. While Valin was cruising to victory, a great battle was raging for the 2nd place between the Italians Simone Mancini, JK Racing Yamaha’s Nicola Salvini and the Australian Jake Cannon. The last word went to Mancini on lap 5 of 15 to get up to 3rd and keep going until the chequered flag. Salvini settled for 3rd and Cannon for 4th.

In race two it was Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Maximilian Werner who came out of the gate the fastest to take the FOX Holeshot but it was once again Valin taking the lead after few corners. However, this time Reisulis made a good start and quickly put pressure on Valin to remind us of the battles we are used to witness between them this season in EMX125 presented by FMF Racing. Reisulis managed to pass Valin on lap 2 of 15 and kept the lead until the end to win race two while Valin settled for 2nd knowing he would be the World Champion at the end with this position. Behind them it was RFME GASGAS MXJUNIOR TEAM’s Francisco Garcia who rode superbly to come from the back to nick the 3rd place to Cannon on the last lap. Cannon finished 4th in the end.

With a 1-2, Mathis Valin was crowned the 125cc FIM Junior World Champion to get his gold medal while race two winner Janis Martin Reisulis finished with the silver medal in front of Simone Mancini who secured the bronze medal.

125cc Junior World Champion, Mathis Valin: “It was a very good weekend for me with the win in race one plus taking the FOX Holeshot. It was bit more complicated in the second race but I still finished second which was not easy under this hot weather but I am now the world champion so the feeling is amazing.”

In 85cc in race one, the Fox Holeshot was taken by Ryan Oppliger as the Swiss took the lead, but he could not do anything on lap 2 when Dani Heitink passed him. The young Dutch managed to control the race until the end to win the first race in front of Oppliger. Dex Kooiker was 3rd for 5 laps out of 12 but had to unexpectedly retire from the race which gave Dean Gregoire the opportunity to finish 3rd in the end. One of the favourites, Jarne Bervoets did not have the best start and had to battle to go from 11th on lap 1 to 6th in the end. 

In the second race, the Austrian Ernecker Moritz took the second FOX Holeshot but Bervoets took the lead quickly after that and showed an immense performance to win with an 8 seconds gap in front of Heitink. Heitink rode superbly and fought his way to the 2nd place after finding himself 5th on the turn of lap 1. Gregoire showed some good speed once again and managed to finish at a good and comfortable 3rd place again. Moritz ended the race in 4th. 

An excellent 1-2 meant that Dani Heitink was crowned the 2023 85cc FIM Junior Motocross World Champion in front of Jarne Bervoets who showed all his talent in race two to win it and get the second place overall. Dean Gregoire showed consistency to go 3-3 and get the 3rd place overall.

In the 65cc race one, the young Latvian Patricks Cirulis went on to take the first FOX Holeshot and kept going at the lead during the whole 8 laps to win the race. Behind him Rainers Grasis also got a very good start in 2nd position and kept this rank until the end of the in front of Easton Graves who also rode the whole race in 3rd position. Kenzo Jaspers made a remarkable comeback after an average start that saw him going from 9th on lap 1 to 4th in the end. 

In race two, Cirulis showed that he was a head above again as he took his second FOX Holeshot of the day and took the lead and kept going with it until the end. Graves managed to make a good pass on lap 2 to move up to 2nd and keep that position until the end while it was a great race for Francesco Assini who made several overtakes to go from 6th on lap 1 to 3rd in the end. Starting very well and finding himself 2nd over the first lap Tim Lopes had to concede few places to finish 4th in the end.

A perfect score and a perfect weekend from the young Latvian Patrick Cirulis who dominantly won and was crowned the 2023 65cc World Cup Winner in front of the great and consistent performer, the American Easton Graves with 3-2 synonymous of silver medal. With his excellent race two, Assini Francesco made it to the third step of the podium.

NATIONS CLASSIFICATIONS AND RIDE GREEN CUP

In the nations’ classifications, Team Italy were the overall winners with 10 points, while second with 17 points were Team Netherlands, followed by Team France in third with 19 points.

Meanwhile, Team Italy were declared the winners of the Ride Green Cup for showing their commitment to protecting their environment.

Bucharest (Romania) 8 July 2023 – That is the first day of the 2023 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship ending with the Qualifying races that took place in Romania near Bucharest.

The best youngsters in the world battled today on the hard sand of TCS Racing Park during the Qualifying sessions which kicked off two days of intense racings. 

Alongside the qualifying practice sessions of the day, a special FIM Ride Green activation was a participation of the national teams during the recycling awareness initiative at the Ecotic Caravan.

In the 125cc class, it was one of the big favourites for the title and current leader of the EMX125 presented by FMF Racing, MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Reisulis who was the fastest of the pack with 1:51.221 placing him in front of JK Racing Yamaha’s Nicola Salvini second and the Hungarian Noel Zanocz third. 

The 85cc category saw Aron Katona topping his group with an excellent lap time of 1:57.876 ahead of Dani Heitik and Nicolo Alvisi . 

Meanwhile in 65cc, Latvian rider Patricks Cirulis claimed the top spot of the qualifying race with 2:07.349 ahead of his brother Martins Cirulis second and the French rider Tim Lopes. 

With this first day of qualification completed, we are now turning to tomorrow and are looking forward for more incredible battles throughout the whole field to finally crown the 125cc and 85cc Junior World Champion as well as the Junior World Cup winner in the 65cc class.

Bucharest (Romania) 8 July 2023 – The 2023 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in Bucharest, Romania was officially launched yesterday during the Opening Ceremony.

The opening ceremony took place in the Promenáda Mall in Bucharest where 226 riders from 38 nations from all over the world including those making the long trip from Australia, USA, South Africa and Latin America were presented to the large local crowd that came to get a glimpse at the future stars of motocross. 

The ceremony started off with a welcome video to introduce the FIM Junior Motocross Championship which was then followed by speeches from the Organizers Cristian Popescu and Adrian Raduta, Romanian Motorcycling Federation President Cristian Muresan along with FIM Junior Motocross World Championship General Manager Patricia Maskarova and FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela.

The team presentation followed the speeches and everyone present could then admire the impressive traditional folk dancing performance from the Ansamblu Folcloric Gorgota who came from the village next to the TCS Racing Park track. The crowd was then presented with the best and funny moments from the previous junior event that took place in Vantaa, Finland in 2022. Following this came FIM's Ride Greenpresentation, which used the occasion to inform everyone about the campaign's significance as well as the Ride Green Cup, which will be given to one of the national teams that exhibits commitment to the environment at the conclusion of the weekend.

The National Anthem finally closed the opening ceremony and all the young riders could take the measure of the importance of this event with this well-rounded and outstanding ceremony.

Bucharest (Romania) 7 July 2023 – The prestigious 2023 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship is taking place this weekend on the 8-9 July at the TCS Racing Park which is located 35 kilometres form the Romanian capital Bucharest. 

The TCS Racing Park is regarded as one of the best motocross tracks in Eastern Europe and is all set up to welcome all the teams and riders. In 2004, the track previously hosted the FIM Motocross World Championship MX3 and European Motocross Championship (85cc). The winner of the 85cc race was Marvin Musquin, who battled with Alessandro Lupino. 

This weekend, the young 125cc, 85cc and 65cc riders will not only compete for their individual glory but also for their country. At the end of the weekend, a Nation will be crowned, which will be determined by taking the best three results of its riders, the best result in the 65cc, the best results in the 85cc class and the best results in the 125cc class. 

Youngsters from all over the world are gathering in Bucharest for the biggest junior motocross event of the season with more than 37 different countries represented, including those making the log trip from USA, Australia, Uganda and South Africa.

This year the 125cc category is full of talent and especially with the two riders that tops the Championship of the 2023 EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing. MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Martin Reisulis and 737 Performers GASGAS’s Mathis Valin will be the favourites for the title as they have dominated 100% of the rounds so far this season in their categories with three victory each. The 3rd in the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing is Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Maximilian Werner who will be also one to watch this weekend after showing consistent good performances this season.  

There will also be the 2022 85cc World Champion WZ Racing Team’s Gyan Doensen that is acclimating himself to the 125cc class. Sturm STC Racing Team’s Mads Fredsoe arrives in Romania on the back of his first 125cc podium in Germany which will give him a confidence boost for this racing weekend. Other names to watch will be those coming from overseas such as the trio from the USA, Klark Robbins, Austin Schafer and Will Canaguier along with Australians riders Jake Cannon and Ky Woods and Jeronimo Damelines from Colombia.

In the 85cc class, one of the contenders will be the Belgian Jarne Bervoets who already finished 3rd last year in the same class. He managed to win the European Champion Central Zone this year and comes to the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship this year for the win. Two young Austrians will be ones to keep an eye on with Ricardo Bauer and Moritz Ernecker who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in 65cc last year. Since then both youngsters moved up to 85cc and will want to reiterate another strong performance. It is a similar trajectory for the Estonian Martens Raud who finished just outside the podium last year in 65cc and is now in 85cc to get his hand on a trophy.

It will be interesting to see the performances of the riders coming from outside Europe with the likes of Carson Wood ad Jonathan Getz from the USA, Blake Frost ad Christian Berrigto-Smith from South Africa, Tabula Bwanjalaga from Uganda and Australians Lachlan Allen and Jack Nunn.

In the 65cc, everything looks quite open with many riders coming from Europe such as the young Dutch Kenzo Jaspers who showed some good speed this season like the Slovak Maxim Zimmerman. There will also be many interesting riders from the USA, Africa, Latin America and Australia which will make for an exciting weekend of racings. The competition will be tough and rivalry will run high in what will be a thrilling moment of motocross

AFYONKARAHISAR (Turkey) 4^th September 2022 – The annual MXGP Awards celebrated yet another successful season of the FIM Motocross World Championship at the final round at the Bitci MXGP of Turkiye!

Once the chequered flag had fallen for the final time this season and the 2022 World Champions were officially confirmed with gold medals, it was time to begin the festivities with the annual ceremony.

The awards took place in the Moto Festival area at the Afyon circuit, in front of a huge crowd of fans and paddock personnel who joined in on the celebrations, which was the perfect end to a thrilling season of racing.

The MXGP Awards were hosted by the MXGP-TV Commentator Paul Malin and MXGP-TV Presenter Lisa Leyland with the entire event live-streamed worldwide on www.MXGP-TV.com, as well as MXGP’s YouTube channel.

The evening kicked off with a special message from Infront Moto Racing’s CEO David Luongo and FIM President Jorge Viegas who shared a few words about the 2022 season and took the opportunity to congratulate everyone for their efforts.

Big thanks to the Governor, the Mayor, the Turkish Motorcycling Federation, the Organizer and everybody who made this event possible. This season has been a challenging one, being the first one post-covid. It was amazing to have the overseas back, with Argentina the first one, which was a big symbol and then Indonesia and other events that were missing during the previous two years, like Sweden and Finland. And also having the public back at the races was a very big and important moment. In MXGP, we have a great Champion as Tim Gajser who did not have it easy, with plenty of fast guys behind him pushing to win. And MX2… What can I say? It was incredible. Big Congratulations to Tom but also Jago who pushed hard and gave it his all. This evening it’s great to have all of the Champions with us, including the Junior and European champions, really it’s a full package here to celebrate. Thank you to all of the teams and riders for the support, motocross is a big family and everyone involved works incredibly hard to deliver a great championship like the one we saw again this year. Thank you all, enjoy your evening”.

The Awards ceremony officially began, as the winning teams and manufacturers were presented with their awards. Team HRC and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing received their winners’ plaques for securing the MXGP and MX2 titles, while Yamaha swept the manufacturer titles in MXGP, MX2 and WMX.

This year’s champions received their prizes next, with Timoteï Cez being the first to collect his award for winning the Junior e-Motocross series, followed by Ricardo Bauer the EMX65 Champion, Vitezslav Marek who won the EMX85 title, EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing Champion Cas Valk, EMX250 Champion Rick Elzinga, as well as the WMX, EMX2t and EMX Open Champions, Nancy Van de Ven, Toms Macuks and Jose Butron.

We also celebrated the FIM Junior World Champions in 125cc (Ivano Van Erp), 85cc (Gyan Doensen) and Lucas Leok who was the 2022 65cc World Cup Winner.

This year, Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder was the recipient of the Jan de Groot Award that honours the most promising young talent. Längenfelder was impressive this season as he ended the year third in the MX2 standings with 2 race wins, five podiums, including his Grand Prix win in Great Britain!

Additionally, Tom Vialle and Jorge Prado were presented with the Fox Holeshot Award, for their incredible starts this season. For Prado, this was his fifth consecutive Fox Holeshot Award, while for Vialle it was his third.

And then it was time to find out which MXGP rider was the winner of the Best Rider of the Year Sponsored by Athena prize! The newly crowned MXGP World Champion Tim Gajser was declared winner, having received the most fans’ votes in total throughout the 2022 season.

The evening then concluded with the awards for the two FIM Motocross World Champions, Tim Gajser and Tom Vialle who each received their championship plates, along with their champions rings as part of their prizes for this season.
