MX2 leaders visit Maser

A few hours after Jago Geerts extended his MX2 World Championship lead, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 visits Sidi's headquarters

Maser, 20 April 2023 - After the celebrations and some sleep, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 visits Sidi at its Maser headquarters. Jago Geerts, current MX2 leader, was enthusiastic about how the company is close to the riders and their needs: "I didn't know Sidi was a few hours drive from the Trento circuit, I was curious to see the company where the boots I wear are designed and produced. Now I know why the company is a favorite among the pros. I noticed so much precision and realized that here, as on the track, the details really make a difference."

It was about 5pm on Sunday, April 16, when on the track of Pietramurata (TN) Jago Geerts extended his lead in the MX2 World Championship out to 205 points, distancing Andrea Adamo - winner of the 4th round of the series - by 22 points and his team mate, Thibault Benistant, by 23. A surprising result confirming what Hans Corvers announced at the beginning of the season: "We want to win the world title.” After a good start in Argentina, Geerts’ victory in Riola Sardo and the hat-trick scored by Benistant in Switzerland, the conditions seem to be in place.

"Although I was hoping for a better result in Trento, I am excited about how things are going. We are only at the beginning and we still have many possibilities. This last race was complicated but in Portugal we will open a new page," says Thibault Benistant, who was immediately joined by current European EMX250 Champion Rick Elzinga. "I rode well even if I did not manage to bring home the result I was hoping for, I am not losing heart and I am preparing for the next round. The championship has just started, the team is there and we have proved it. The technical partners are there as well and we are ready to continue."

Racing has always been at the core of Sidi with athletes being an essential part of its development and testing. “Motocross is one of our homes and a really beloved one,” says Davide Rossetti, CEO of Sidi Sport. “This year Trento was a particularly special day as the entire company was invited to attend the race with their families: the sport is a passion embedded in our company, so it just felt great to be here with the team and their loved ones.”

Sidi was born in 1960 from the idea of creating the best footwear for two-wheel sports. Thanks to the unique and exclusive relationship with top athletes in cycling and motorcycling - including Francesco Moser, Giacomo Agostini, Joel Robert, Stefan Everts, Paolo Bettini, Tony Cairoli, Billy Bolt, Egan Bernal, Richard Carapaz, Kiara Fontanesi, Alvaro Bautista, Colin Edwards, Gregg Blak, Sylvain Guintoli - the company has revolutionised the world of footwear with unique technologies such as the semi-adjustable cleat, the rotor closure, carbon soles, anti-hyper-extension systems, SRS and many others. It is with the same spirit that Sidi continues to create technologies to improve the experience and safety on both bikes and motorbikes.

FIM Ride True campaign continues its mission in MXGP

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 20 April 2023 - The FIM Ride True anti-doping campaign continued to share its ongoing message with a briefing for more than one hundred-and thirty athletes, their parents, team managers and close associates at this month’s Swiss Round of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Frauenfeld.

The briefing for MXGP, MX2 and WMX riders was conducted by the internationally-recognised Swiss Sport Integrity organisation and addressed issues surrounding the dangers of doping, ethical misconduct and wrongdoing in sport.

As well as being educated on the dangers of doping, those in attendance learned about available online resources to help identify prohibited substances that could be present in nutritional supplements and over-the-counter medicines.

David Luongo, Infront Moto Racing CEO, was unequivocal on the subject of anti-doping: “This is a matter we regard with the utmost importance,” he said. “There is no place in the sport for doping and we are collaborating with the FIM to ensure the athletes strictly adhere to this. The FIM stringent programme of testing ensures a level playing field for everyone so ability, training, talent, and machinery are the sole deciding factors.”

A survey conducted after the briefing resulted in positive feedback and additional briefings are planned for later in the year.

Maxime Renaux, Monster Energy Yamaha MXGP Team, said: “It was really interesting for us riders to see a bit more in detail what the anti-doping rules are. I learned that some medication changes between countries and also about the contamination of some products so we need to pay attention to this. It was really interesting and we should be more attentive to the doping rules.

“I am checking myself but I have been working for many years with the same products so everything is checked. I believe it is important to keep the riders aware about the anti-doping rules. I know it is hard to get tests every weekend but I believe it is important to have a clean sport with every rider with the same rules and fighting on the same level.”

Courtney Duncan, Big Van World MTX Kawasaki, said: “I learned quite a bit although I’ve watched a few protocols before so I knew quite a lot of the stuff. I check supplement and also my nutritionist checks them just to make sure they’re not WADA-prohibited. It’s very important. It just keeps the sport clean – fair winners, no-one’s cheating.”

David Braceras, F&H Kawasaki, said: “I always check supplements with my doctors to be safe and healthy. I do a blood test every month. It is important for myself and other competitors to be at the same level. For me anti-doping is really, really important. Imagine if you are doing everything level and you are racing with another rider who is taking something additional to you – it is not fair. All the riders must have the same opportunities.”

Kiara Fontanesi, MXFonta Racing, said: “We all have a great engine inside ourselves. It is about how you train it, how you feed it and how you repeat this. The more clean you are the better power you have. That’s how you reach victories.”

Raf Meuwissen, Young Motion Yamaha, said: “It was a very interesting briefing and I learned a few things I didn’t know. I was in the Dutch selection for a few years and the coach of the team gave me an app for my phone so I could always check every supplement.

“Train hard and take the right stuff and you will be ready for the race. I think anti-doping is really good. If you check it and you know it then you will be aware of it. It is always better that everyone is safe and I think it’s important.”

Antonio Cairoli, nine-time FIM Motocross World Champion and current Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager, said: “Motocross is not a sport where if you take doping substances you will go faster. It is a sport that requires a lot of sacrifices and if you make it the right way you will be twice as proud.”

Jonas Personeni, Director of Prevention and Communication at Swiss Sport Integrity, said: “It was a great experience. It was the first time for me in this environment and the people are very engaged and very passionate. The athletes are aware that they are subject to the anti-doping rules, they know what to do and they are well-prepared, so the goal is to prevent any inadvertent anti-doping violations. It is important for athletes to have a fair chance to know the rules [and] that they have the knowledge to be aware of the requirements.”

David McManus, FIM Medical Director, concluded: “The main pillars of the FIM anti-doping programme are fairness, integrity, minimise risk and improve the health and safety of our riders. As part of its anti-doping programme, the FIM has over a number of years introduced educational initiatives to improve the awareness of riders and their support personnel regarding doping issues. Our belief is that by increasing knowledge and understanding, positive doping tests can be prevented.

“We have been supported in our briefings by a number of organisations including national anti-doping organisations as well as well-known riders and we would like to extend a special thanks to Infront Moto Racing for supporting the FIM Ride True anti-doping campaign at Frauenfeld.

“As a result of these initiatives riders and their teams are increasingly aware of the need to consider and question the potential risk from various substances and the potential impact on their health and our sport.”

Lata tops a full Italian podium in EMX250 and Reisulis dominate the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing

PIETRAMURATA (Trentino) 17 April 2023 – The second round of the EMX250 and EMX125 presented by FMF Racing Championships in Pietramurata came to an end. What a weekend for both classes as we witnessed some quality and skilful riding.

The EMX250 saw a podium completed by three young Italian riders with KTM Beddini Racing Team’s Valerio Lata winning in front of Red Plate holder Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Andrea Bonacorsi and VRT KTM Factory Juniors’ Ferruccio Zanchi.

In EMX125 presented by FMF Racing, MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Martin Reisulis completely dominated the round in Trentino ahead of Fantic Factory Team Maddii riders Maximilian Werner second and Elias Escandell third.

The first race of the EMX250 class on Saturday saw a quick start with Valerio Lata taking the lead in front of Andrea Bonacorsi. Although Lata got under pressure pretty early by the Championship leader Bonacorsi, he still held his ground and defended very well. Lata even managed to get a 3,5 seconds cushion. However, Bonacorsi did what he does best, power through to get close and was too quick on lap 10 as he finally passed Lata. Lata was not ready to give up and made an attack in the last couple of turns of the race to give the public an intense finish. Bonacorsi held on his 3rd race win in a row while Lata finished 2nd.

Finishing 3rd was another Italian, Ferruccio Zanchi who showed great skill and speed. Zanchi found himself 4th behind BT Racing Team’s Kay Karssemakers after lap 1. Zanchi made a move on Karssemakers on lap 5 but there was a give and take between them for few turns. Zanchi finally made the pass stick and went 3rd until the end setting the fastest lap of the race in the meantime.

Karssemakers had to concede a couple of positions following that as Marc-Antoine Rossi got him under pressure in thrilling battle. Karssemakers eventually went down in a turn on lap 8 to move down to 7th. M-A.Rossi finished 4th in the end after a good comeback from the 9th place on lap 1. Karssemakers managed to get back up to 6th position in the end.

Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Karlis Reisulis has been pretty consistent as he got 5th on the first lap to finished 5th in the end.

Behind them, two teammates from Fantic Factory Team Maddii, Alexis Fueri and Cas Valk lived the same kind of races getting to 6th and 8th on lap 1 respectively. Fueri moved down to 8th to then get back up to 7th with 4 laps to go to end in that position while Valk moved also down early in the race to 10th but showed good determination to make some good move to get back up to 8th with 4 laps to go where he finished too.

Team VHR’s Saad Soulimani had a really good start to see himself 7 over the first 7 laps and even moved to 6th when Karssemakers went down in lap 8. But the Frenchman made a mistake on lap 11 to go down to 9th where he finished. It was still a good performance. Finally, Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Ivano Van Erp rode a pretty solid race all throughout the race to be consistently in the top 10. Van Erp was 10th after one lap, and finished at the same position in the end.

Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Quentin Prugnieres went down early in the race to finish 19th in the end.

In race 2, Lata went all in as he got the lead after the first corner and looked determined to stay in the lead. Bonacorsi who went 4th in lap 1, quickly moved up as Zanchi in front of him went down on lap 2. Bonacorsi, also attacked his teammate Van Erp to pass him for 2nd on lap 3. Bonacorsi went on to stay 2nd the rest of the race although he tried for a last push to attack Lata but the gap stayed within safe distance for Lata.

Van Erp who had taken a very quick start and got behind Lata over the first couple of laps had some difficulties to maintain his pace and defend his position. Van Erp moved down to 8th in the end. Maxime Grau showed really good riding in race 2 as the young French managed a solid start and got 5th after the first lap. He benefitted from Zanchi’s fall to get to 4th and then made a great move on Van Erp for 3rd in lap 4. Grau eventually managed to keep his 3rd place and hold his ground in front of Reisulis.

Reisulis got to 6th in lap 2 while Zanchi picked up his bike after going down to 7th. The two riders followed each other during the whole race and finished 5th for Reisulis and 6th for Zanchi.

Cas Valk showed a solid ride as he has been really reliable during the weekend with a good 8-6 which is encouraging for the rest of the championship as Valk gets 3rd. M-A Rossi is another dependable rider so far as he displayed a strong pace in race 2.  He went from 6th on lap 1 to 5th on lap 2, only to make a mistake on lap 4 and dropped to 9th. He picked up where he left off as to finished 7th in the end.

Karssemakers stayed around the 9th place throughout the whole race for a positive 6-9 over the weekend to stay 4th and in touching distance to the first three in the Championship. Finally it was Cato Nickel who made it into the top 10 for the first time this season and this performance will be encouraging for the young German over the next rounds.

In the end, Valerio Lata clinched his first EMX250 win in front of the Red Plate holder Andrea Bonacorsi second and Ferruccio Zanchi third for an 100% Italian podium in Trentino.

Valerio Lata: “This was a really good weekend for me and I am so happy to have won. The sand is Sardinia was hard for me so I am very happy to come here and win the round. I want to thank my team and everyone supporting me”

In Race 1 on Saturday, Maximilian Ernecker got the best start but MJC Yamaha Team’s Janis Martin Reisulis took the lead very early on after few turns and never gave it up. Reisulis went on to leader from start to finish increasing the gap with Fantic Maddii Factory Racing‘s Maximilian Werner to 16 seconds Werner also overtook Ernecker quickly in the first lap to get 2nd until the end although he had to defend on Ernecker the whole race. In the end he finished 2nd and Ernecker 3rd.

Gyan Doensen from WZ Racing Team and Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Elias Escandell had a solid race as they quickly got to 4th and 5th respectively on lap 1. They kept their position until the end as they paced through the race to no get under threat.

Vitezslav Marek showed his determination as he quickly went up from 12th on lap 1 to 6th on lap 6. He managed to stay 6th until the end. Francisco Garcia had a solid ride too as he stayed in the top 10 throughout the race picking up 2 positions from 9th on lap 1 to 7th in then end.

Mads Fredsoe picked up his usual pace after an average start where he found himself 13th and overtook consistently lap after lap. His last move was onto Salvador Perez for 8th on lap 10 and remain 8th until the end. Perez finished 12th in the end although he rode for most of the race within the top 10.

The most impressive comeback was the one from Alfio Pulvirenti who started poorly and saw himself in 19th place on lap 1. However, the Italian is not one to shy away from a strong ride. He overtook plenty of riders as he moved up to 11th with one lap to go. He eventually overtook successively August Frisk and JK Racing Yamaha’s Nicola Salvini to finish 9th. Salvini also displayed some heroic move as he went from 22nd on lap 1 to finish 10th. Frisk would settle for 11th showing some great willpower too after a bad start.

Red Plate holder 737 Performers GASGAS’s Mathis Valin crashed early and could only moved up to 18th in the end.

In race 2, it was this time Escandell who had the best start but as always, Reisulis was not far in 2nd after few turns. Reisulis pounced early to take the lead and never give it up. Reisulis was a head above throughout the weekend as he comfortably went 1-1. Escandell behind him also showed good control as he stayed easily 2nd until the end.

A great battle for the 3rd position between Werner 3rd from lap 1 and Alban Alm happened in the end of the race. Alm came from behind as he found himself in 7th position on lap 1 to then quickly overtake Doensen for 6th, then Simone Mannini (16th in the end) for 5th on lap 3. He continued on his pace to overtake Frisk on lap 6 for 4th. Finally, Alm got to Werner and eventually passed him with 2 laps to go. Alm finished 3rd while Werner settled for 4th in the end.

Frisk would finish 6th in the end as he got overtaken on the last lap by Valin. Valin made a great comeback as he went from 11th on lap 1 to get to 5th in the end. Unfortunately, it was not enough to keep the Red Plate.

Doensen also made a decent run in race 2 as he went from 6th on lap 1 to show some consistency to finally finish 7th. Behind him Marek moved up from 10th on lap 1 to 8th in the end and even finding himself to 7th place between lap 5 and 12. Mads Fredsoe made some nice passes early in the race to get from 12th to settle in 9th on lap 5 and stayed there until the end. Noel Zanocz managed to get to 10th after an decent start that placed him 13th on lap 1.

In the end, Janis Martin Reisulis won and dominated the round of Trentino with a perfect 1-1, taking the Red Plate along the way. Maximilian Werner finished second and Elias Escandell third.

Janis Martin Reisulis: “In the first laps I was going 110% trying to make a gap to get a good race. I hope I can ride like this every week. I am very happy today and I want to thank everyone around me who worked hard too.”

PIETRAMURATA (Trentino) 16 April 2023 – What an amazing weekend achieved in Pietramurata for the MXGP of Trentino.

The fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship offered an electric atmosphere with a large number of fans coming to cheer on the riders throughout the whole weekend. The noise, the cheers and the show were outstanding in what would be an iconic Grand Prix.

At the end of the day it was Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado who won his first Grand Prix of the season in MXGP in front of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux for a back-to-back podium. Third was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings who won his first race of the season and displayed some strong riding.

In MX2, it was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo who won a GP for the first time of his career in front of his teammate Liam Everts who also experienced his first MX2 podium. Third on the podium was the Red Plate holder Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Jago Geerts.

In the MXGP Race 1 in Pietramurata, Jorge Prado took the FOX Holeshot and kept going with the lead. Prado displayed a strong and composed race to win by a good margin.

The start of the race was marked by a big crash involving many riders including Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings, Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Jeremy Seewer. The incident hindered their chances to score maximum points in race 1. In the end, Seewer had to settle for 16th place while Febvre finished 12th.

Behind Prado were Team HRC’s Ruben Fernandez and MRT Racing Team Beta’s Ben Watson 2nd and 3rd after lap 1. Unfortunately for Watson, after a great start he couldn’t hang on to the top 10 in the end as he settled for 11th but still earned good points.

Fernandez looked very comfortable as he got close to Prado over three laps. After that, the Spaniard looked to settle for the 2nd place but Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux had other plans. Renaux went 6th after lap 1 but looked determined to chase after the top points. He overtook Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Mattia Guadagnini on lap 1 and then battled with De Baets Yamaha MX-Team’s Benoit Paturel between lap 5 and 10. Paturel who started very well was not ready to give up his 3rd place easily but eventually had to concede to Renaux on lap 10. Renaux went on to get closer and closer to Fernandez and finally pounced 2 laps before the end to reach 2nd. Fernandez settled for 3rd.

Paturel was overtaken a few times after that and moved down to a decent 10th place in the end. Guadagnini battled his way upwards a few times during the race to reach 4th in the end. Guadagnini, Team Ship To Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Valentin Guillod, SM Action Racing Team Yuasa Battery MXGP’s Alberto Forato and Team Gebben Van Venroy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen all found themselves fighting from lap 12 until the end. The advantage got to Guadagnini as he finished 4th. Then Forato finished 5th in the end coming up from 9th on lap 1, right in front of 6th place Vlaanderen, who shadowed him the whole race. Guillod settled for 7th after showing some skilful riding the whole way.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Glenn Coldenhoff had to battle his way up as he got to 13th after lap 1. The Dutch methodically made his way up the ranking order, displaying some solid riding while never being overtaken after lap 1, to ultimately finish 8th.

The performance of the race was definitely from Herlings, who after being involved in the multiple riders’ collision, showed why he has already achieved the 100th GP win of his career. From being last when he picked up his bike, the “bullet” incredibly and quickly passed most of the riders in front of him. On a mission not to lose too much ground in the championship, his determination saw him overtake no less than 20 times in the space of 18 laps to get 9th in the end.

In race 2, Prado made it 100% for the weekend as he cliched the second FOX Holeshot, making for a total of 5 this season already. Prado quickly led in front of Renaux and Febvre, who did not let the Red Plate holder relax for a second. It looked like a three-way battle for the lead until Herlings came through to disrupt the order.

Herlings found himself 7th on lap 1 and began his charge to the top as he successively overtook Seewer, Guillod (who finished 11th) and Fernandez to get to 4th place on lap 6. He then passed Febvre on lap 7 and inched closer to the front two, Prado and Renaux while also setting the fastest lap time. While Prado was defending against Renaux, Herlings made a move to attack them both, making an impressive double overtake over three turns on lap 11. Herlings then quickly pulled away to fly to his first race victory of the season. In the meantime, Renaux also passed Prado to finish 2nd while Prado finished 3rd.

Febvre showed his qualities too as he finished comfortably in 4th position. On his part, Seewer had a better start, which is what the Swiss needed to feel confident on the bike. Being 8th on lap 1, Seewer benefitted from JM Honda Racing’s Brent Van doninck’s mistake to get up to 7th and then showed his well-known speed to overtake Guillod for 6th on lap 8. He didn’t stop there as he also moved on Fernandez on lap 10 to get to 5th where he finished in the end. His teammate Coldenhoff shadowed him the whole race and he also delivered a good performance to finish 6th. Fernandez would settle for 7th in the end.

Behind them, Van Doninck who started very well and got to 6th on lap 1 had to concede a few positions along the way to finish 8th, which means good points to stay in close reach of the top 10 in the championship, in 13th place overall. Standing Construct Honda MXGP’s Brian Bogers also had a good race 2 as he entered into the top 10 for the first time of the day. Bogers went from a decent start in 11th place on lap 1 to get to 10th on lap 4. On lap 14, Bogers found a way to pass Guillod for 9th where he remained until the end. Guadagnini experienced a similar race to Bogers as he went from 12th on lap 1 to end up 10th in the end.  Guadagnini, who went 4-10 this weekend was the first Italian of the GP as he finished in a really promising 5th place.

The other home riders Forato and MRT Racing Team Beta’s Alessandro Lupino finished 10th and 14th overall, while SDM Corse MX Team’s Nicholas Lapucci experienced some bike problems and could not get into the points.

In the end, excellent throughout the weekend Jorge Prado clinched his first GP win of the season with a 1-3 and keeps the Red Plate for the next stop in Portugal while Maxime Renaux continues his current form to go 2-2, with a back-to-back podium and got to the second step of the podium. Jeffrey Herlings closed the podium with an excellent comeback and a  9-1.

Jorge Prado:”it was a tough weekend but I pushed myself. I got it done in the first race. The second race was harder as Herlings and Renaux passed me but I have to say I am very happy how it went. First GP win of the season and now we are coming to Portugal and Spain, two tracks that I like so hopefully I can keep the Red Plate going. I also think about my grandfather and this this win is for him!”

Maxime Renaux: “It was a good weekend and a good Grand Prix overall. Missing the GP win for a point is a bit disappointing but Jeffrey was too quick in the second race. I tried to fight and it brought me to second place. It is a really good result and I am still adding points to the championship which is the most important.”

Jeffrey Herlings: “I had two really different races. I had to push a lot in the first one after the fall in the first turn but still managed to finish 7th. The second one, I got more into “the old Jeffrey form” and I showed what I am capable of by winning the race. Now I am very looking forward to go to Portugal!”

In MX2, Jago Geerts took the first FOX Holeshot of the day and kept leading the race until the end. The Belgian displayed a solid performance, never under pressure despite having Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Liam Everts behind him for most of the race. However Everts, who looked like he was set to finish 2nd, was overtaken by his teammate, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo on the last lap. Adamo finished 2nd and Everts 3rd.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Thibault Benistant looked sharp and was 3rd after lap 1 as he attacked a few time Everts for 2nd. However, Benistant was attacked by Adamo on lap 10 and would settle for 4th in the end. Behind him, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf who was 7th on lap 1 did everything he could to get to the top points. De Wolf also used the famous triple jump of Pietramurata to overtake, like he did to pass WZ Racing team’s Mikkel Haarup on lap 3 for 6th (Harrup finished 10th in the end). He kept going and squeezed past on the inside of Team Ship To Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Emil Weckman on lap 7 for 5th where he would finish in the end. Weckman managed a very good race as he finished 8th for his first top 10 of the season.

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Roan Van de Moosdijk maintained his consistency, as he rode into the top 10 the whole race going from 8th on lap 1 to 7th after passing Haarup on lap 5. Van de Moosdijk also passed Weckman for 6th on lap 10 to remain in that position until the end. His teammate Lucas Coenen made some good passes throughout the race. He was 11 on lap 1 but showed his quality as he overtook few riders to get to 7th in the end.

Finally, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder made an amazing comeback after getting down early in the race and found himself 18th on lap 1. The German exhibited great determination to finally get into the top 10 on lap 10 and even got to 9th by overtaking Haarup on lap 14, where he stayed

In Race 2, Laengenfelder started very quick as he took the FOX Holeshot and rapidly edge away from Benistant 2nd. Laengenfelder showed imperious control as he won race 2.

Adamo who got the better of Everts in lap 4 to get 3rd, went for Benistant 2nd in lap 6 as the Frenchman could not match Adamo’s pace, eventually Adamo finished comfortably 2nd for a very good 2-2 to win the GP.

Everts also dug deep to first overtake Benistant for 3rd in lap 9 and then to maintain his 3rd position in front of de Wolf. Everts held his ground to finish 3rd, synonymous of the first podium of his career.  De Wolf settled for 4th in the end. Benistant had to see de Wolf passed him too on lap 10 and finished 5th.

Van de Moosdijk, who found himself 7th on lap 1, went on to another solid riding to overtake Weckman in lap 4 to stay 6th until the end. Weckman had to stop the race on lap 11.

Finishing 6th and getting on the podium, Geerts made outstanding effort as he got caught on the first lap twice to find himself 21st. However the red Plate holder is a ferocious competitor and was not to give up easily. A heroic come back saw him methodically overtaking riders lap after lap to finally got to 7th place on lap 11 to stay there until the end.

Horgmo rode a pretty consistent race as he kept his 8th place from start to finish for a good 8th place. Jan Pancar from TEM JP253 KTM Racing Team also managed to get into the top 10 as after a decent start he was 10th on lap 1 and oscillate through the race to end up 10th in the end. Coenen had to fight for his place as he got an average start as he went 14th after lap 1. He   had to push as we saw him do this season already to get to 9th in the end.

In the end, Andrea Adamo clinched his first GP win on his home soil while Liam Everts also got onto his first podium of his career. Jago Geerts managed with his outstanding riding in race 2, to get to the 3rd step of the podium and keep his Red Plate.

Andrea Adamo: “I have no words really, I’m so happy to get my first victory. I felt very good on the bike. I passed where I knew I was comfortable with and then I tried to control the second place in the second race as I knew I was winning the GP.”

Liam Everts: “it is really cool to be on the podium. I had so much fun on the track over the weekend. I didn’t except to come and perform that well that early but after a step in the right direction in Switzerland I managed to get my first MX2 podium”

Jago Geerts: “The first race was very good for me as I felt good and won it. I didn’t have the best start in the second race as I went down twice. But I picked it up and push to get to 7th place and 3rd on the podium which is important for the Championship”
