WORLDWIDE TV COVERAGE – TUNE IN TO THE MXGP OF CZECH REPUBLIC!

LOKET (Czech Republic) 25 July 2025 – The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championships heads to one of its most popular and iconic venues this weekend, deep in the heart of Europe for the MXGP of Czech Republic from the amazing Loketske Serpentiny circuit above the picturesque town of Loket!

MXGP World Championship leader Romain Febvre had his points advantage reduced by Lucas Coenen at the previous round in Finland, but he has won more at this venue than at any other in his career and will look to rebuild his advantage over the teenage pretender!

The MX2 points leader Simon Längenfelder arrives at the closest GP circuit to his home just over the border in Germany with a sizeable points lead, but his chasers, and the last two World Champions in the class, Andrea Adamo and Kay de Wolf, are intent on catching him, as well as dealing with each other!

This event also features no less than four other classes as Champions will be crowned for the best young riders in Europe in the EMX85, EMX65, and MXE Junior e-Motocross races across both days! The EMX2t class for fans of two-stroke machinery will also bark around the Czech venue to the delight of the packed hillsides!

MXGP OF AUSTRALIA HEATS UP WITH JUST EIGHT WEEKS TO GO

DARWIN (Australia) 23rd July 2025 - The MXGP of Australia is shifting into gear, announcing the first half of Aussie wildcard riders to compete, confirming key event partners and a track that’s on-track to thrill.

Fifteen of the total 30 wildcard riders from the four main classes – MX1, MX2, MX3 and MXW – have been announced, representing talent from across the country, including current and former ProMX champions Byron Dennis and Todd Waters. For 13 riders of the first round, this will be their first time competing in a world motocross event.

Also adding a uniquely Australian edge to the Darwin event is the MA Motocross State Challenge - a national junior showdown involving 84 of the country’s top emerging riders in the MX85 and MX3 classes.

Seven states and territories have selected a team of 12 riders each, with the Territory Dingoes set to fly the local flag in front of a home crowd in Darwin. Coached by Tim Gwynne and managed by Sally Woodhill, the Territory team includes names to watch across both classes - from Mitchell Thorneycroft and Banjo Williamson in MX3, to Brodie Holmes and Keeley Scott in MX85.

Sitzler, a Territory-founded construction company, has been confirmed as the Presenting Partner for the 2025 MXGP of Australia, supporting the elite MXGP category. Sitzler has been instrumental in the foundational construction of the motocross track at Hidden Valley, with final works by expert track builders Protraxx scheduled for completion in late August.

The permanent 1.6km circuit will feature 22 corners, 21 jumps, and a 90-metre start straight that dramatically crosses the Hidden Valley Road Racing Circuit. Designed to be both unique and challenging, the track promises heart-pumping, adrenaline-packed action.

Off-track, the event will support CareFlight as the official Charity Partner. CareFlight is an aeromedical charity that delivers critical care to patients wherever they are, no matter how remote. Fans are encouraged to visit CareFlight trackside to find out more on the vital work they do across the NT.

MXGP of Australia tickets are on sale now and selling quickly. There are a range of options for fans including the one remaining premium hospitality package, the iconic Skybox, which provides exclusive access and unmatched views of the track. The event also offers affordable choices like the Holeshot Hotel, a family-friendly premium general admission area capturing the laid-back spirit of the Northern Territory. A 3-Day Hot Pass is only $150, single day passes start from $45 and kids 12 and under enjoy free entry with a paying adult. A $30 Paddock Pass upgrade offers exclusive behind-the-scenes access.

For more information, to secure your tickets, or download the on-track timetable, visit: mxgpaustralia.com.au

Quotes from Northern Territory Major Events Company Executive Director Aimee Luxton:

“With the first round of wildcards announced and with just eight weeks to go, excitement is building in the Territory, around the country and internationally.

“Tickets are selling very strongly and my advice for locals is not to wait too long. It’s going to be an incredible event, and we want Territorians to be part of the action.”

MULTIPLE CLASSES LAND AT LOKET FOR THE MXGP OF CZECH REPUBLIC!

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 22nd July 2025 – The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championships head to one of its most popular venues this weekend, as the brilliant Loketske Serpentiny circuit in the hills above the medieval town of Loket welcomes the riders for the 14th round of the season, the MXGP of Czech Republic. As well as the MXGP and MX2 warriors, this round will also host the finales of the EMX85 & EMX65 European Youth Championships, the EMX2T Championship event, and the final two rounds of the MXE Junior e-Motocross Series as well!

The Loket venue celebrates the 30th anniversary of its first Grand Prix event this year, and it has been a mainstay on the calendar since then, with this year’s event being the 28th at the spectacular hardpack circuit.  The Czech Republic has seen a round of the Motocross World Championships within its borders for most of the sport’s history, with the first GP ran near the capital city of Prague back in 1958, won by local rider Jaromir Cizek.  Belgian legend Joel Smets won the first GP at Loket with a perfect day on a Husaberg back in 1995.  He went on to win three more times here, and still shares the record for the most GP victories at the track with fellow multiple Champions Stefan Everts and Antonio Cairoli, who also won four apiece around the picturesque Czech valley.

This season’s red plate holder in MXGP, Romain Febvre, is one of five other riders to have won three times at Loket, and the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP leader will be hungry to add another victory this year to his successes in 2015, 2019, and 2023.  He comes in with a 15-point lead in the 2025 MXGP World Championship after a difficult MXGP of Finland, where the Frenchman finished second overall, but still scored 17 points less than his main Championship chaser.

That challenger, of course, is Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen, who finished second overall at each of the previous five GPs before finally getting his hands on a winner’s trophy for the third time in his first year in the class. Lucas took a race win and third overall at Loket in MX2 last year, and was victorious on similar terrain in Switzerland back in April, so will certainly feel confident of continuing his momentum. Fantic Factory Racing MXGP star Glenn Coldenhoff is third in the series and on a great run of form, and he comes to Loket for his first podium at this track after achieving a best of fourth overall in both 2021 and 2022!

MX2 Championship leader Simon Längenfelder brings a 43-point advantage to the Czech valley over fellow Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Andrea Adamo. Both riders in orange will be looking to strike on their favoured surface after a perfect weekend for defending Champ Kay de Wolf in Finland.  The#1 plate holder for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing drew to within five points of Adamo in the series, and with two deep sand circuits on the horizon, a repeat of last year’s win for the Dutchman at Loket would be a massive bonus in his campaign for a second title!

Czech rider Julius Mikula will race his home GP for the first time as a factory rider for the TM Moto CRD Motosport squad in MX2, and as he sits 18th in the standings he will be looking to better his 9th-place overall finish from Castilla La Mancha!

A plethora of support classes will join the MXGP elite this weekend, as the Finale for the EMX85 and EMX65 European Championships take place for the young riders who have gone through the Area Qualifiers to fight for the title this weekend! EMX85 sees a clash between regional Semi-Final winners Pau Caudet from Spain and Lucas Leok, from that famous Estonian racing family whose father Aigar and uncle Tanel both raced to GP level. However, the French winner of the World Junior Championships, Rafael Mennillo of the Tech 32 team, as well as his countryman and winner of the first race at Romagné, Enzo Herzogenrath, will also have their eyes on the medals, as will Brian Gyles from the UK, Neo Nindelt from Germany, and Francesco Assini from Italy! Fans from New Zealand will cheer the familiar surnames and “sons of” Jaggar Townley and Nixon Coppins as they battle for their first major titles!

In the EMX65 class, the French team had a strong quartet claim the top four positions in the South-West & South-East Zone Semi-Final on home turf at Cussac. Arthur Annelot took both race wins ahead of Mathys Agullo, who took silver at the World Junior Championships three weeks ago. Timotei Cez and Liam Morette completed the French rout, and they will all line up at Loket.  Sadly, the winner of the other Semi-Final, Jett Gardiner, has since picked up a leg injury in the UK and won’t be racing.  The two who finished behind Jett, namely Haakon Ronning from Norway and Bas Verspaandonk from the Netherlands, are ready to step up for the challenge, as will Matej Masar from nearby Slovakia, who was fourth in that Central & North-Eastern Semi-Final. It should be a thrilling contest from the little rippers!

The EMX2t European Championships will also take place at Loket, and although reigning Champion Marcel Stauffer will race in MXGP rather than defend his title, last year’s podium man Vaclav Kovar will get his home fans behind him as he goes for gold this year on his Becker Racing KTM, and former EMX65 & EMX85 Champ Vitezslav Marek will be hoping to repeat his previous success on home ground. Spaniard Elias Escandell could be a force in this class, as could Finnish Beta rider Sampo Rainio, who ran in the top ten at his home round of EMX250 two weeks ago.

Just for an extra slice of action, the MXE Junior e-Motocross Series reaches its conclusion this weekend after its rounds in France, Germany, and Great Britain.  British kid Austin Senior leads the series by just nine points from French rival Cesar Lagut, who won in Germany after issues for Senior in the first race there.  Otherwise, Senior has won four out of the five races he was able to finish and will be hoping to bring the title home from Czechia.  Spaniard Rodrigo Angel is 22 points back in third place, but anything can happen around the Loketske Serpentiny!

The MXGP of Czech Republic never fails to deliver thrills and spills, and this year’s event should prove to be no exception!

After extending his points lead with his first ever victory at Matterley Basin, MXGP World Championship leader Romain Febvre had his advantage cut to just 15 points after the MXGP of Finland, as his main contender Lucas Coenen took his third overall victory of the season with a perfect weekend in the sand of the KymiRing.  With a similar points gain at this GP, the teenage Belgian would take the red plate to his home round the following weekend, but he now has to tackle Febvre at the only circuit where the Frenchman has won overall on three occasions!

Due to the Czech round being home to the finale of the EMX85 and EMX65 Championships in recent years, Coenen has only raced here twice, both times in MX2.  However, after finishing eighth overall in 2023, he took the first race win last year before a crash in race two relegated him to third overall.  There is no doubt that he will be a major threat this weekend.

For some reason, even though he has always gone well on similar surfaces such as Matterley Basin, Glenn Coldenhoff has never finished in the top three in a race at Loket, with a run of five fourth-place finishes across 2021 and the first race in ‘23! He is a strong third in the 2025 Championship for Fantic Factory Racing MXGP, with 42 points over fourth-placed Ruben Fernandez. The Honda HRC pilot has only raced in two GPs here, with a best of fifth overall in MX2 with 4-7 results in 2021.

A rider that has jumped up the standings through great results, as well as injuries to others, is Calvin Vlaanderen.  With his first podium of the season in Finland for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, the tall South African-born Dutchman took the most recent race win of his career at Loket in 2023, as well as an MX2 race win in 2018, so his confidence will be sky-high as he attempts to close down the 41-point gap to Fernandez for fourth in the series.

Another tall rider on the up is Andrea Bonacorsi, who lies sixth in the standings for Fantic Factory Racing MXGP, and he will be hoping for redemption at a circuit which saw one of his worst weekends in his rookie season last year.

Behind three injured riders, Maxime Renaux, Jeffrey Herlings, and Tim Gajser, who has confirmed that he won’t be returning at Loket, is the leading Aruba.it Ducati Factory MX Team rider Jeremy Seewer.  With a total of six podiums at this circuit, which exceeds that of any other rider lining up this year, Jeremy could be a real candidate for another top result, especially after his victory here in 2022. His teammate, Mattia Guadagnini, took his most recent GP victory here in MX2 back in 2021, and the Italian will hope to turn around what has been a troubled season since it started so well in Argentina.

As usual at this point in the preview, we have to mention the record of Jago Geerts, who took the MX2 overall victory at Loket in both 2022 and 2023, and literally bounced back from a big crash at the last round to take sixth in race two, showing that his form may be building for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, as he sits 13th in the points race despite breaking a toe at Matterley Basin.

Local fans will get behind reigning EMX Open Champion Jakub Teresak, who lines up for his third GP outing this season and will be out for his first points on home ground!

The MXGP class is an awesome sight to behold as it thunders through Loket’s rises and falls, and the Championship is closer than it’s been yet between Febvre and Coenen.  We can’t wait to find out who will Lok’ up the win and “Czech” out!

MXGP - World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Romain Febvre (FRA, KAW), 627 Points; 2. Lucas Coenen (BEL, KTM), 612 Pts; 3. Glenn Coldenhoff (NED, FAN), 449 Pts; 4. Ruben Fernandez (ESP, HON), 407 Pts; 5. Calvin Vlaanderen (NED, YAM) 366 Pts; 6. Andrea Bonacorsi (ITA, FAN), 353 Pts; 7. Maxime Renaux (FRA, YAM), 347 Pts; 8. While the MXGP of Finland may have seen a resounding return to form for reigning World Champion Kay de Wolf with a perfect weekend for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, the MX2 World Championship is still being led handsomely by Simon Längenfelder, who has made a habit of moving forward through the races to score as many points as possible to keep the red plate on his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine.  De Wolf also still has Andrea Adamo ahead of him in the standings after the Italian scored a solid second overall at the KymiRing.

Whilst the Loket surface might look to be very suitable to his skills, the German still hasn’t won an individual race or Grand Prix here, although he has given his many travelling fans plenty to cheer about with podium results in each of the last three GPs in Czechia.  His home town of Hof is just over an hour’s drive away, making this a more local GP for him than his home round at Teutschenthal! He was third in 2022 with a 2-3 card, second with a 4-2 in 2023, and then scored a 2-2 for second overall last year.  Can he get just one step higher up this time?

Loket was a nightmare round last year for the other Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Adamo, who was so beat up with a crash in the Qualifying Race that he sat out Sunday’s event, but he did take a race win here in 2023 on his way to fifth overall. A first taste of the bubbly in Czechia would be a real treat for the Italian, ahead of the sandy rounds to come!  De Wolf, however, took third here in 2023 before last year’s win, and will look to overhaul the small gap over Adamo as a stepping stone to get to Längenfelder.

Now fourth in points is Sacha Coenen, who has scored five podium results in the last six rounds, and although a fifth in his very first Loket race is still his best here, the wild-riding Belgian will surely be out for more! Sadly for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, Liam Everts is likely to miss the Czech GP after his heavy fall in Finland.  We wish him a speedy recovery.

Liam’s top five position is likely to be taken this weekend by Thibault Benistant, as the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 man is only five points behind the Belgian, and Loket is a track that truly suits the Frenchman, with two race wins at the venue earning two podium visits!  Even though, due to early season injuries, he hasn’t seen the place since his second position overall in 2022, the spectacular riding style of the #9 will see him target an overall victory that he has waited a long time for!

Seventh in the series is Camden McLellan, and although he prefers the sand these days, he will have confidence at Loket with memories of his overall victory in the 2018 EMX85 Finale, when he put both De Wolf and Everts beneath him on the podium! The South African hasn’t seen an MX2 podium since Sardegna, even though he took the first race win for Monster Energy Triumph Racing at Trentino and could be very dangerous at Loket if he can get out of the gate well!  His teammate Guillem Farres should also like the kind of hardpack that has served him well so far this season, as he looks to improve from tenth in the Championship.

Valerio Lata took a race win and second overall at Loket on his last visit to the circuit, which was the EMX85 Finale in 2019! The Honda HRC man is still fighting to get back to full fitness to defend his eighth in the series from former EMX250 rival, Van Venrooy KTM Racing’s Cas Valk. The Dutchman was unable to turn his practice pace into good race results in Finland, and with only eight points between him and Lata, he needs to focus on catching him before Farres, who is only 17 points behind, can go past his tally.

With EMX250 regulars Mads Fredsoe and Valentin Kees taking advantage of a break in their schedule to cut their teeth in MX2, as well as many hopefuls from the eastern side of Europe joining the fray, it will be a more packed grid to give a wild weekend of racing in MX2 at the MXGP of Czech Republic!

MX2 - World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Simon Längenfelder (GER, KTM), 613 Points; 2. Andrea Adamo (ITA, KTM), 570 Pts;  3. Kay de Wolf (NED, HUS), 565 Pts; 4. LUCAS COENEN AND DE WOLF COMPLETE PERFECT WEEKENDS AT THE MXGP OF FINLAND!

IITTI-KYMIRING (Finland) 13th July 2025 – Today’s MXGP of Finland, the first international event to be held at the new KymiRing facility near the city of Kuovola, delivered a tough day of racing for the 13th round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championships, as the northernmost stop of the series brought bright sunshine for the whole weekend on the physically demanding new circuit.

After an overnight thunderstorm put some moisture into the circuit for the morning sessions, the sunny weather continued for Sunday to keep the soft surface in a fast but rough condition for the Grand Prix races themselves, and with temperatures running high for the area, the physical challenge for the riders was not to be under-estimated!

After five consecutive trophies for second-place finishes, Lucas Coenen finally took his third MXGP win of the season for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to complete a perfect 1-1-1 weekend, and nudged himself closer to the lead of the series, although red plate holder Romain Febvre fought tirelessly from average starts to still take second on the day for Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP. Third overall, in classic 70th Anniversary colours for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, was a thoroughly-deserved first podium of the season for Calvin Vlaanderen.

The MX2 class saw a return to form for reigning Champion Kay de Wolf, who took his first Grand Prix win for over two months for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing. In a similar recovery from a bad run of form, Andrea Adamo took a fine second overall to help his Championship campaign, with fellow Red Bull KTM Factory Racing flyer Sacha Coenen taking third overall for the fourth time this year! This allowed the Belgian to move past the injured Liam Everts into fourth in the Championship.

There was action all over the track at the new Finnish venue, which was well received by both fans and riders alike, with many stories to tell throughout the pack!

Before the action start on Sunday, a solemnel moment happened, where the FIM delegation joined David Luongo, CEO of Infront Moto Racing for a minute of silence in the memory of former FIM President Francesco Zerbi, the towering figure of the world motorcycle sport, which took place in front of the starting gates.

The Sunday morning Warm-up saw great pace from the Fantic Factory Racing MXGP squad, as Andrea Bonacorsi and Glenn Coldenhoff took first and second in the session ahead of Febvre, but Jago Geerts crashed on his second lap and would line up in the races for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP with bruising to his shoulder.

Even with a gate pick from outside the top ten, it was Coldenhoff who fired the Fantic from the middle of the gate into the lead to claim his third Fox Holeshot Award of the season, although Lucas Coenen was quickly onto his back wheel as the battles raged behind them!

Mattia Guadagnini had got a great jump for the Aruba.it Ducati Factory MX Team, but was passed in the next few corners by Honda HRC’s Ruben Fernandez, although Bonacorsi carved through into third place by turn five with some decisive riding! Febvre had suffered a poor start and had to fight from outside the top ten.

Coenen, the chief chaser in the title race, scorched down the Pit Lane straight on the inside of Coldenhoff to take the lead before the start of the first full lap, and proceeded to get the hammer down.  Behind the two Fantics were Fernandez in fourth, Vlaanderen in fifth, then Guadagnini ahead of the third Fantic Factory Racing MXGP machine of Brian Bogers.

Febvre was swiftly on the move, passing Bogers at the start of lap two, although he had to cope with a retaliatory move from the Dutchman before sealing the deal, but then took just two further corners to get past Guadagnini.

In the meantime, Coenen set a blistering pace, shocking observers with a lap time nearly five seconds faster than anyone else! The speed was almost too much as he survived a massive near-crash through the uphill wave section, and wisely backed it down from there.

Fighting in to the top ten was the Team Motoblouz Honda SR Motul rider Alberto Forato, who moved past both Guadagnini and Bogers to take seventh at the close, ahead of the Fantic-riding Dutchman, while Brent van Doninck took ninth for JM Racing Honda, and Forato’s teammate Kevin Horgmo took tenth by the finish.

Febvre took until lap eight of 19 to catch and pass Vlaanderen, but then made a mistake to drop behind him again, allowing the South African-born Dutchman to close in on Fernandez and pass him for fourth in the closing stages.  Febvre also made his way past the Spaniard, but Coenen took a commanding 13-second victory, as Fantic Factory Racing MXGP enjoyed 2-3 finishes for Coldenhoff and Bonacorsi.

The day looked like it was going to get even better for Fantic as Coldenhoff took his second Fox Holeshot Award of the day in race two, although Coenen was instantly leading into the second corner and started to pull away again.  His gap at the front was widened by a collision between Fernandez and Coldenhoff as they disputed second place into turn five!  Both hit the ground hard, and Fernandez was forced to retire with machine damage by the end of lap eight.  Coldenhoff was left to fight through the pack, and teammate Bonacorsi also got held up as he hit Glenn’s bike on the floor!

Just as in the Qualifying Race, Adam Sterry was up into third for Chambers Racing KTM, but this time he was unable to hold back the factory riders as Geerts, Seewer, and Febvre soon got past.  Vlaanderen held second at the end of the first full lap from Geerts and a charging Febvre, who needed to limit the points damage to Coenen.

Van Doninck, enjoying the soft surface, held a solid fifth place ahead of the remarkable Bonacorsi, who had charged past several riders including Seewer to hold sixth place after his early hold-up! Forato, Sterry, and the MRT Racing Team Beta of Tom Koch completed the early top ten.

Suddenly on lap five, Coenen’s lead shrunk as he fell awkwardly in a right-hander that he admitted to struggling with all day, but remounted just in front of Vlaanderen and Febvre, who had blasted past Geerts into turn two on lap three.  The factory KTM man then made a further mistake on the corner before Pit Lane, going over a berm and handing the lead to Vlaanderen! The retro colours had deservedly got to the front!

It didn’t last long, however, as Coenen regrouped to hold off Febvre and jump past Vlaanderen on a downhill “staircase” section to re-take the lead on lap seven.  On the same lap, Van Doninck got past a sore Geerts to take fourth, and Coldenhoff sneaked past both Koch and the other MRT Racing Team Beta of Ben Watson to climb up to ninth.

Febvre took just two more laps to get back past Vlaanderen, but couldn’t run down the flying Coenen.  The top three, as well as Van Doninck in fourth, would finish the race in that order, but Coldenhoff’s valiant charge up to fifth place left him in a three-way tie with Febvre and Vlaanderen for second in the GP! Unfortunately for the Dutchman, the last race tie-breaker put him in fourth overall, just ahead of Bonacorsi, who had got up to fifth in the race before slipping down to eighth.

Van Doninck’s great second race was enough to put him in sixth overall, his best of the season by a distance!  Forato also put in his personal best since August last year with two seventh places putting him in that position overall ahead of Bogers, with Geerts salvaging ninth overall thanks to a fine sixth in race two.  Jeremy Seewer soldiered away to reach tenth overall with 11-10 finishes for Aruba.it Ducati Factory MX Team.

While some sportsmen fear the number 13, Lucas Coenen might consider it his friend as he won round 13, on the 13th of July, which was his 13th career Grand Prix victory! His perfect weekend was enough to slash Febvre’s points lead from 32 points to just 15 as the series moves to the Czech Republic, where the Frenchman is a three-time winner, in just two weeks’ time!  This season’s duel for the MXGP crown continues to be a fascinating one!

Lucas Coenen: “That second race wasn’t easy, but I’m pumped with how it turned out. I got out front early and just took off. Saturday was a bit of a struggle, but today we made some good changes, and it all came together. Super happy with the 1-1 and how I rode, let’s keep this momentum going!”

Romain Febvre: “This weekend I had to work really hard, probably the most all season. I crashed in Saturday’s qualifying and again in Race 1, so I was constantly fighting back. In Race 2, I didn’t get the best start either, but I gave everything. I saw a chance when Lucas (Coenen) made a mistake, but I was just missing that last bit of energy. We know where we need to improve, starting up front makes all the difference. That’s the goal for the next ones.”

Calvin Vlaanderen: “This podium means so much. It’s been weeks and months of hard work, not just from me, but the whole team. We’ve been struggling this year, so to finally get this result, especially during Yamaha’s 70th anniversary celebration, is special. I’m really proud to give something back to everyone who’s supported me, my team, my family, my girlfriend and her family. Thank you all.”

Saturday’s Qualifying Race winner Kay de Wolf set the fastest time in morning Warm-up, and again Cas Valk showed his speed with second for Van Venrooy Racing KTM.  Mathis Valin also continued his good weekend with third in the session for Kawasaki Racing Team MX2.

After his struggles in Saturday’s Qualifying Race, 2023 World Champion Andrea Adamo knew he had to try and battle back into contention to avoid losing more points in the Championship to red plate holder Simon Längenfelder, and got the first point of order correct with his fifth Fox Holeshot Award of the season, using his advantage to take a line through the fourth corner that his fellow Red Bull KTM Factory Racing ace was also hunting for, and the German ran off-track from a promising third position!  His teammate Sacha Coenen also had issues, tipping off in the very next corner, leaving Thibault Benistant in a clear second place for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 ahead of Czech rider Julius Mikula on the TM Moto CRD Motosport machine!

De Wolf had moved forward quickly past Honda HRC’s Valerio Lata and BTS KTM Racing rider Jens Walvoort, and added Mikula to his list of victims with a great pass on the uphill wave section at the top of the circuit, a section that would become a key passing spot for him throughout the day.  Just as Benistant looked to be lining up Adamo for the lead, he made a mistake and fell into the clutches of De Wolf, who passed the Frenchman on lap two.

Both Mikula and Walvoort unfortunately crashed out of their good early positions, leaving Monster Energy Triumph Racing’s Camden McLellan to give chase in fourth ahead of his teammate Guillem Farres and the second Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 machine of Karlis Reisulis, although Coenen’s recovery took him up to fifth by the end of lap five!

By that time, De Wolf had pulled a sweet pass on the exit of the second corner to wrestle the lead from Adamo, and from there the top three positions were set as the Dutchman managed an eventual gap of 3.7 seconds, with Benistant a further 6.4 seconds behind Adamo.  Coenen continued his charge to get past McLellan for fourth on lap 15 of 19, helped by a small tip-over for the South African.

Längenfelder had a quiet race after his early off-track excursion, and took sixth between the two Triumph teamsters. Valin took eighth ahead of Reisulis and the Latvian’s teammate Rick Elzinga.

Sacha Coenen restored normal order with his ninth Fox Holeshot Award of the season in race two, as Benistant, Farres, De Wolf, and Reisulis gave chase in that order, while title contenders Adamo and Längenfelder held sixth and seventh from the opening few corners.

De Wolf railed around Farres to take third at the start of the first full lap, while Adamo ran off-track slightly in his attempts to get past Reisulis! Both factory KTM men got around the Latvian by lap six, as De Wolf attacked Benistant, using his favourite passing place on the uphill waves to take second from the Yamaha man!

Farres suffered a disastrous lap eight, crashing twice within the space of a few corners, and dropped back to an eventual 12th place, and tenth overall. Reisulis and Elzinga took eighth and ninth, ahead of a valiant Walvoort, to take those positions overall, while Valin claimed seventh behind McLellan, just as they did in the overall reckoning.

Längenfelder couldn’t advance from fifth, while Benistant got passed by a determined Adamo for second on lap 13 of 19, leaving the Frenchman in fourth overall.  Meanwhile, De Wolf had closed in relentlessly on Coenen and was to pass him - where else - on the uphill wave section! The Dutchman stretched out a comfortable 8.7 second margin of victory by the flag, and took his third GP victory of the year.  It brings his career tally to 12 in total, and despite Adamo’s fine second place on the day, pulls him to within five points of the Italian for second in the series. His gap to Längenfelder at the top was reduced from 70 points to 48, and means that with seven rounds to go, there is still all to play for between the top three contenders in the title chase!

After a weekend off, the series moves on to the classic Loket circuit for the MXGP of Czech Republic, where the hard-pack specialists in both classes will look to strike back in the points chase!  2025 is far from over in the Motocross World Championships!

Kay de Wolf: “We had a really good plan with the team and executed it perfectly, three races, three wins. I managed my rhythm well and stayed patient when I needed to. All the hard work paid off, and I’m super thankful to my team. This was a big one for the championship, and I’m already looking forward to the next round.”

Andrea Adamo: "It was a solid weekend, and that’s exactly what we needed, especially in the sand. It’s not easy to be consistent here, but I stayed close to the front and made a nice move on Benistant for third in Race 2. Going 2-3 is the best we could do today, and I’m happy with that.”

Sacha Coenen: "I’m really happy to be on the podium again, especially since I’ve been sick all weekend. I got the holeshot in Race 2 and tried to hold on, but just didn’t have the energy to stay in front. Still, this is my third podium in a row, so I’m happy with the consistency. Let’s keep it going.”
