TRIUMPH RACING MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

REDBUD (United States) 23 September – Infront Moto Racing is pleased to announce Triumph Motorcycles confirms plans to compete in the prestigious FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024, with a factory supported race programme under an all-new Triumph Racing banner.

This landmark new Triumph Racing Team has been set-up in partnership with Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, one of the sport’s most experienced and successful team owners, who will field two of Triumph’s all-new 250cc 4-stroke MX bikes in the 2024 MX2 class and will add an entry into the 450cc MXGP class in 2025.

Under the new Triumph Racing banner, which will now cover all of Triumph’s racing-related activities including Moto2 and Supersport racing, the partnership between Triumph and Thierry will encompass his well established and highly successful team structure and facilities. Further under-pinning the ambition and commitment to win central to this new partnership, Triumph is also pleased to announce that his long-standing Team Manager, Vincent Bereni, will continue leading the team with a full crew of highly experienced technical staff all focused on bringing Triumph to the pinnacle of motocross racing performance.

The new long-term partnership between Triumph and Thierry reflects a shared goal and commitment to build depth and success into Triumph Racing’s approach to competition. As a part of Triumph Racing’s portfolio of commitments, Thierry and Vincent’s team will focus on the FIM Motocross World Championship – in MX2 and MXGP, together with development of technology and talent to build Triumph’s future strength in international motocross racing.

Thierry and Vincent’s past racing record speaks for itself – with over 80 MXGP World Championship victories and a huge reputation for technical and preparation excellence. Backed by Triumph’s in-house motocross design engineering department, which is responsible for the concept and development of its all-new MX and Enduro motorcycle range, Triumph Racing is committed to building its resources and performance capability with world-class knowledge and experience.

Triumph Racing is based at Triumph’s Global Headquarters in Hinckley, UK, where the brand’s research, design, engineering development and prototype build are located, and the Motocross World Championship team will be based at Thierry’s race facility near Eindhoven in Holland, where race team personnel, operations and competition development will be housed. Engineering groups at the Triumph factory and the race team are working closely together on continuously enhancing chassis and engine performance through an intensive testing schedule underway in the USA, UK and mainland Europe, building towards the first MX2 Grand Prix of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship.

Testing of the new Triumph motocross and enduro bikes is well underway and information on the specifications, performance characteristics and components of each model will be released in due course, along with more news on Triumph Racing’s entry into further top-tier Championships and categories.

Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo: “It is a great news! Probably one the most important in recent years. Infront Moto Racing will welcome a new manufacturer in the MX2 and MXGP World Championship. We are talking about one of the most emblematic motorcycle brands in the world. Triumph will join our championship from 2024 with a full program in MX2 and MXGP categories. This is a very important announcement and is a fantastic sign about the interest and the importance of MXGP in the international motorsport scene. During the last 20 years, MXGP has been growing and has established globally. With an average of 19 events per year, it gives the best platform for manufacturers to develop their bikes, components and to advertise them worldwide. From Asia to South America, going through Europe, MXGP is covering all the different markets and is touching most of the off road fans in the world. It is with a great pride and excitement that we welcome Triumph to MXGP and we wish them a lot of success in the years to come and a great competition with the other Factory Teams already present!”

FIM President Jorge Viegas: “Today is a special day for all the Motocross lovers as we can witness a new motorcycle manufacturer announcing that they will join us in 2024! It is a great news. As we all know how close from competition Triumph has always been, but never in Motocross. Also, making this announcement at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations here, in the United States, couldn’t be more appropriate. In the name of the FIM I can only wish all the luck and welcome!”

Triumph CEO Nick Bloor: “Our new partnership with Thierry demonstrates Triumph’s long-term commitment to competing at the highest levels of racing. We share a passion for delivering world-class performance, and the experience Thierry and his team bring will prove invaluable in our ambition to make our mark on a very competitive championship. Our entry into the FIM Motocross World Championship with a Factory supported Triumph Racing team signifies a landmark moment at the beginning of our new top-tier off-road racing campaign”.

Triumph Global Racing Manager Jeremy Appleton: “The launch of Triumph Racing is a pivotal step in our journey to bring Triumph to the pinnacle of racing across an even wider range of disciplines. Building on Triumph’s success as the sole engine supplier to the Moto2 World Championship and our participation in Supersport racing, the move into MX2 and MXGP opens the door on a strategically important new chapter in top-tier off-road racing. We well know the demands of World Championship competition and that is the reason for forming the partnership with Thierry. Together with Vincent, their approach to racing and development of performance is impressive and we are looking forward to building the project together and adding to the success that they have already achieved in the Motocross World Championship”

Triumph Racing Team Owner Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni: “Triumph have made a major commitment to build an MX bike and go racing in the FIM Motocross World Championship. I am happy that my team is going to be the official Triumph Racing Team in MX2 and MXGP. Nick Bloor and the Triumph Board of Directors have made their long-term ambitions for the project very clear and I see a huge amount of passion from everyone at the Factory. I am happy with progress on the bike, it looks great, has speed on the track and Vincent and my staff are working with the engineers at Hinckley on building it into a competitive package for entry into the MX2 Championship in 2024. MXGP continues to grow around the world, I am very happy to be back and looking forward to going racing with Triumph”.

Triumph Global Off-Road Ambassador Ricky Carmichael: “I’m really excited about today’s news. It’s been a long time coming. Since the start of this project with Triumph, I have been amazed at just how hard everyone has been working. It must not go without mentioning, the whole R&D and engineering group that have been a part of the development of the motorcycles have done an absolutely incredible job. From the first stages of the prototypes, I was really taken back at how well the performance was, since then, being in the UK testing the newest developments, I can tell you that it has the capabilities of winning at the highest level and I personally believe the riders, from professional to amateur, across the entire range of off road models, will really like what has been developed!”

New Organiser Confirmed for Future MXGP Events in Indonesia

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 16 September 2022 – Infront Moto Racing is delighted to announce that SEG will become the new organiser of two MXGPs held in Indonesia for the next five years.

The new agreement guarantees two MXGP events in Indonesia every season which is an exciting opportunity for MXGP fans in Indonesia to enjoy the FIM Motocross World Championship on home soil and get a chance to meet their racing heroes.

SEG was already involved in the organisation of this year’s MXGP of Indonesia in Samota-Sumbawa which was a huge success thanks to the incredible track that was specifically built for the event, and greatly enjoyed by the riders as well as the support from the local government and community together with the passionate Motocross fans who came to watch the races.

The targeted destinations for the future Indonesian rounds include the Island of Lombok and the Island of Sumbawa which are two locations very passionate about motorsports!

Infront Moto Racing is delighted to start the cooperation with SEG and look forward to many successful years working together and growing the popularity of motocross in Indonesia.

Infront Moto Racing CEO, David Luongo: “IMR is delighted about this announcement. The last MXGP of Indonesia in Sumbawa has been a fantastic success. The MXGP family has been welcomed in a very unique way with a memorable parade crossing the city and dozens of thousands of Indonesian fans coming to enjoy the racing weekend. The track, surrounded by the sea of Sumbawa, was very spectacular and we are all very excited to come back for the next 5 years for two Grand Prix with the addition of Lombok, next to the MotoGP facilities. I would like to thank SEG and its CEO Muhammad Ihsan Zulkieflimansyah for their strong commitments, the Indonesian authorities, the region of West Nusa Tenggara and IMI for all their support to bring the MXGP to Indonesia and to contribute to its constant growth”.

The controlled condition of the pandemic has certainly strengthened hopes for recovery of the regional economy, especially continuing the various major agendas of developing the priority tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara. Local event management organisation that is run by youngsters' creative community is becoming the spearhead on reviving culture and tourism. SEG, which is owned and developed by young spirits, has become the official promoter of 2 MXGP series for the next 5 years in Lombok and Sumbawa.

CEO of Samota Enduro Gemilang (SEG), Muhammad Ihsan Zulkieflimansyah: “We all are vary thrilled to have the opportunity to hold the MXGP 2022 in Indonesia, especially in Sumbawa. To bring the MXGP event to Indonesia has been one of our proudest moments. The public enthusiasm is really impressive, as the audience is not only from local, but also from foreign countries and International MXGP enthusiasts. We are really excited for the next MXGP events, as we have been given the trust by Infront to hold the upcoming 2 series of MXGP that will be held in Sumbawa and Lombok. As MXGP in Samota-Sumbawa recently received MXGP Best Media Opportunity, it’s such a big honour for us to receive this award.

We really appreciate the chance and trust that is given to us by the MXGP family. With the success of the event, we are thanking all the partners such as the government, local sectors, and community who support the event. SEG and team will provide the best effort on executing and organising the upcoming events of MXGP Sumbawa and Lombok in 2023”.

Another successful year for Pirelli in the FIM Motocross World Championship

Pirelli Conclude the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship season scoring the record number of 79 titles with Tim Gajser, Tom Vialle and Nancy Van de Ven.

The 18th and final round of the FIM Motocross World Championship that took place in Afyonkarahisar has been the best way to conclude the 2022 season for Pirelli in the FIM Motocross World Championship with three titles won in the main classes: MXGP, MX2 and WMX. In the MXGP class Tim Gajser, Slovenian rider of Team HRC, got the title already in Finland while Jeremy Seewer (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing MXGP) and Jorge Prado (RedBull GasGas Factory Racing) completed the top 3 championship standing all made by Pirelli’s riders. Tim Gajser also won the BitCi MXGP of Turkiye in front of Jeremy Seewer to end the season in the best way possible.

In the hard pack track of Afyon’s Motor Sports Center the riders had the chance to make the most of the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front with the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft rear; those are the tyres, that together with the SCORPION™ Soft rear, has been the most used from Pirelli’s riders and have been the key to achieve those incredible results.

The 2022 MX2 season has been spectacular and the last round in Turkiye saw the triumph of Tom Vialle (RedBull KTM Factory Racing) at the last race of the season that saw him with the title against Jago Geerts (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing MX2) by only 4 points after a really tight championship. Like in the MXGP class also in MX2 the Championship Top 3 is all made by Pirelli’s riders with Tom Vialle, Jago Geerts and the young German Simon Längenfelder (RedBull GasGas Factory Racing) that impressed everybody during this 2022 season with many good results.

The 2022 has been an incredible year for Pirelli and once again at the last round of the series in Afyonkarahisar the Dutch Nancy Van De Ven (Ceres71 Yamaha Racing) managed to get the WMX World Championship title after a fight with Lynn Valk (JK Yamaha Racing) that went on until the last race of the season. During the BitCi MXGP of Turkiye we also saw the conclusion of the EMX Open Championship where the Spaniard José Butron won the series completing the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing and the EMX250 titles won also by Pirelli with the two Dutchmen Cas Valk and Rick Elzinga.

Last but not least are the Junior World Championships titles won by Pirelli in August on Vantaa’s track in Finland with Ivano Van Erp winning the 125cc class and Gyan Doensen winning the 85cc class.

Tom Vialle 2022 MX2 World Champion

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 9 September 2022 - Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle was one part of the intense two-man MX2 title clash this year, alongside his closest rival Jago Geerts of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing.

During the 18 rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship we were treated to some of the closest racings, with the title showdown coming down to just two points as we entered the final Grand Prix of the season, followed by just one point, as Vialle held the advantage, as the pair lined-up for the final gate drop of 2022.

Race two of MX2 was the perfect climax for the 2022 season, with some very close racing between Vialle and Geerts that ended up with both riders going down, but Vialle was able to get going first and make a run for it from his rival.

In the end a perfect 1-1 score was just what Vialle needed to get his hands on his second MX2 world title and end his season with 10 GP victories, 17 race wins, 15 podiums, 6 pole positions and having led a total of 308 laps compared to Geerts’ 154.

The road to number two!

Vialle’s love for bikes came as a result of watching his father, who was a pro rider and winner of 12 GP’s during his racing career. Plus he competed in various events including Supercross, which inspired the young Frenchman to start riding. And at the age of 5, Vialle got his very own bike, entering his first race around the same year.

In 2018, Vialle entered the EMX250 series where he showed promise from the opening round in Red Sand, Spain. The youngster finished the races second and fourth that time around to claim the second spot on the box. At the following round in Portugal he was not so lucky as he only scored three points, though was able to fight back with a race win in Orlyonok. The following few GP’s the Frenchman struggled with consistency, as he battled well within the top three, to finish some races in second and third, though could not put two consistent heats together for a strong overall. Eventually he finished 8th in the Championship standings, before being picked up by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing for the following season.

Vialle then made his MX2 World Championship debut at the MXGP of Argentina in 2019 as part of the factory KTM squad, alongside Jorge Prado. He had a steady first GP to finish well inside the top 10 with a 7-8 result. At the following GP in Great Britain, Vialle continued to surprise as he got himself onto the podium with a strong 3-4 race result and then followed that up with another podium in Trentino.

The following GPs in Lombardia, Portugal, France, Russia and Latvia saw him struggle, before making a comeback in Germany, Indonesia and Asia with a string of 2nd overall finishes. The Frenchman also claimed his first overall that season, as a consistent 2-2 handed him the overall in Sweden, while his teammate celebrated his MX2 title.

In the end, Vialle finished the season 4th in the standings with an overall victory and 7 podiums, which placed him among the favourites for the title in 2020.

Vialle entered the 2020 season with a second overall at the British Grand Prix, before turning things around for the Dutch GP where he took the win and the red plate.

Then we were hit the COVID-19 pandemic, though as things picked back up in Latvia, with what was the first triple-header of the season, Vialle was able to pick up exactly where he left off, to win the first of three GP’s.

Vialle then followed that up with two overall wins in Faenza, as he took his first double race win of the season, during the MXGP of Citta di Faenza. He followed this up with 7 more podiums, which by the end of the season put his tally up to 14.

All season long, Jago Geerts and Vialle traded at who would win the races, along with a couple of other riders who were victorious too, though despite the close battles, Vialle was able to claim the title a round early, during the MXGP of Pietramurata. The day wasn’t easy for the Frenchman who had to start the races from outside the gate, though he was able to get the job done and get that gold plate with a race win in the opening heat. The second race was unlucky for Vialle who had an issue with his bike and could only fight back to 23rd. Despite missing out on the podium, Vialle didn’t let this dampen his mood, as he picked up his championship-winning plate!

There was no doubt that Vialle entered the 2022 season looking to take back what he had lost in 2021, which was the world title after an injury took him out of the fight following his 1-1 victory at the opening round in Orlyonok. The Frenchman then fractured his right hand and was on track to miss the following round, though he did line-up in Matterley Basin but only completed on lap of free practice. He also did not score any points in Maggiora and did not line-up in Oss before making his comeback in Czech Republic where he finished 11th overall. By the following Grand Prix, Vialle was 7th overall, then 4th overall in Latvia, before winning the Turkish doubleheader and then the MXGP of Sardegna, before finishing second in Germany.

The final leg of the season saw Vialle win in Trentino, then place 9th at the MXGP of Pietramurata before ending his season with two podium finishes and a DNF in Garda and Lombardia, while the DNF in Città di Mantova cost him the possibility of a silver medal.

In 2022, it took Vialle a couple of GPs to get into the swing of things before he was able to pick up his first GP victory in Argentina and then added two more in Portugal and Trentino before finishing third and second in Latvia and Maggiora. He then bounce back by dominating the next three GP’s in Sardegna, Spain and France before missing the podium in Germany due to a technical issue which also saw him lose the red plate, but again, the Frenchman came back with a win in Indonesia which saw him take back the red plate for the third time.

As the racing came back to Europe, it seemed like Geerts had the upper hand after winning the next three GP’s in Loket, Lommel and Uddevalla. Even Vialle admitted that he was in a tough position following these three GP’s as doubts began to creep in, but the team got him back on his feet and that clearly showed in Finland – which was the biggest turning point of the year!

Vialle won the next two GP’s, bringing the points gap down to just two points as we entered the Bitci MXGP of Turkiye! Vialle won the first race, which gave him the upper hand heading into the second heat, and after a drama filled race, the Frenchman was able to seal the deal and get his second MX2 world title with a 1-1 scorecard!

Tom Vialle about his last GP that decided the World Title: "It was a great one, I mean I didn't get the best start in the second race, but I passed Kay and Thibault and was second behind Jago. I felt good actually and then after two laps, I passed Jago on the start straight. Then Jago was pushing a lot, he passed me two times but I passed him back and then I had a little tip over, and I crashed… When I crashed, I thought, this is it, it’s finished, because we were both so fast, but when I saw that Jago crashed with me, I thought "no way" this is not possible and I managed to get going quickly. It was crazy and I was lucky there a little bit, but that is part of the game. It was a long race eventually; I was watching the clock a lot. I am happy, it was a tough season and to finish like this is so nice”.

Congratulations Tom on your second world title and good luck for the next step in your career!

2022 Fox Holeshot Winners – Prado and Vialle

MOANCO (Principality of Monaco) 7 September 2022 – Infront Moto Racing have been delighted to continue the Fox Holeshot competition during the 2022 season of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Over the years, as the sport, machinery and athlete levels have risen, we have also witnessed the rise of the importance of getting a good start. Every GP the starts are crucial and getting out in front is a way to have the best chance of success.

How does the competition work?

Every Grand Prix race, during both MXGP and MX2 races, the rider who crosses the white line painted on the ground at the exit of the first corner secures the Fox Holeshot and receives one point. At the end of the season, the two riders, one per category, with the most Fox Holeshot points will win the mega prize!

This year, the Fox Holeshot Award crown in MXGP went to Jorge Prado of Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing, who for the second year in a row (in MXGP) has proven that he is the rider to beat when it comes to getting out of the gate. Throughout 2022, Prado collected 16 Fox Holeshot plates, while Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer had five and Team HRC’s Tim Gajser ended up third with four Fox Holeshot’s this season.

While in MX2, the Fox Holeshot Award goes to Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle for the third consecutive time. Vialle racked up a total of 10 Fox Holeshots in 2022, with his closest rivals being Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder who had eight black plates to his name and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jago Geerts who had seven.

Both Vialle and Prado, received their FOX Holeshot cheques during the annual MXGP Awards which was streamed LIVE to audiences worldwide on MXGP’s Facebook and YouTube channels, as well as www.MXGP-TV.com

EMX250 Championship Rule Change

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 06 September 2022 – Infront Moto Racing and the FIM-Europe wish to announce a rule change that will become effective in the EMX250 Championship from the 2023 season and onwards.

Over the last several years, the pyramid scheme has seen great success with increasing number of entries in the European classes. Many of the current top stars in MXGP and MX2 have gone through the EMX ranks to become the front runners in the FIM Motocross World Championship which is exactly what the pyramid scheme aims to achieve, in order to have the best riders in the world competing on the biggest stage of motocross racing.

The change in the EMX250 will be the age rule which looks to follow the natural evolution of the riding experience in the European Championship. Going forward, the maximum age for riders contesting in the EMX250 Championship will be 21.

Additionally, the EMX250 Championship will now see a total of 10 rounds per year, while the EMX125 series will be disputed between 9 rounds. The EMX2t Championship will consist of one race, as will the EMX Open creating a finale style event.

Gajser Adds to History of MXGP Champions Trophy

The MXGP Trophy was introduced in 2020, that saw the beginning of a new tradition in the FIM Motocross World Championship, paying homage to all the past, present, and future world champions of the premier MXGP class.

Team HRC’s Tim Gajser was in fact the first rider to ever received the coveted cup when he picked up his fourth world title in 2020. Last year, the trophy changed hands and went to Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings who won a historic title chase against Gajser and Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre as the championship went down to the last race.

After the heartbreak of losing the title last season, Gajser was more motivated than ever to take back the crown and the trophy in 2022 and he did just that with impressive stats that included 14 race wins, 10 Grand Prix victories, 13 podiums and 185 laps led.

The newly crowned world champion was presented with the impressive art-piece by Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo at the podium, following the final race of the season in Afyonkarahisar, Turkiye.

About the trophy: The MXGP trophy is made up of two main materials, aluminium and carbon fibre base is formed by 6 pieces of anodized aluminium in three different shades: red at the bottom, and black and grey in the middle alongside the MXGP logo. In the grey parts we can find some filigrees inspired by motocross such as the starting gates of the tracks, the teeth on the bike sprockets, and more distinctive elements. The top of the trophy is formed by 16 twisted carbon fibre blades shaped into a cup to resemble the championship logo. The 20 stainless steel plaques wrapping the trophy are engraved with all the world champions’ names from 1957 until now in the main class.

The size and weight of the trophy represent the toughness of the competition, and its uneven sharp angles are meant to capture the skilled performance of the riders and the thrill and speed of the races.

The trophy was designed by the Barcelona-based Garcia Rojals Studio, that holds a long-time global reputation for designing outstanding racing trophies, including the MotoGP World Championship Trophy and the World SBK Trophy.

Tim Gajser Wins 2022 Best Rider of the Year Sponsored by Athena Award

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 6 September 2022 – For the second year in a row, MXGP and Athena joined forces to continue the Best Rider of the Year Sponsored by Athena competition!

Throughout the year fans have had the opportunity to vote for the ‘Best Rider of the Year Sponsored by Athena’ in the MXGP category, with the votes tallied at every Grand Prix. A rider of the GP was chosen during each event in 2022 and the rider who received the most points by the end of the season was declared the winner and got to walk away with the ultimate prize and be presented with the special award for ‘Best Rider of the Year Sponsored by Athena’!

Every Grand Prix a dedicated post was shared on MXGP’s official Instagram page under which fans were able to comment who their favourite rider of the weekend was. The comments were then counted and the rider with the most votes was chosen as the best rider of that GP.

At the season finale in Turkiye, Team HRC’s Tim Gajser was voted the Best Rider at the Bitci MXGP of Turkiye after receiving 45.9% of the votes compared to iXS Hostettler MXGP’s Valentin Guillod and Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado who each received 29.4% of the votes!

This season, Gajser headed the competition from the very beginning and by the end of the championship collected 12 points ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer who tallied up 3 points ahead of Jorge Prado, Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen and Standing Construct Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Brian Bogers who all had one point each.

Gajser was presented with the cheque for winning the competition at the annual MXGP Awards.

Tim Gajser: “It’s really cool for Athena and MXGP to set up a contest like this and I’m really happy to win it! Of course, this would not be possible without all of the fans that have voted for me every GP you know, so really, I must thank them for the support and for this award!”

The 2022 World Champions received their unique jewellery during the annual MXGP Awards on Sunday evening, following the last races of the BitCi MXGP of Turkiye which saw the crowning of the final champions of the season and concluded this year’s championship.

These one-off silver jewels are custom made to symbolise victory, each engraved with the year and the names of the Champions to further personalise the ring. The rings are designed and produced by the Italian company PR Model which is headed by Mr. Telemaco Cane, a huge fan of motocross himself.

The ring presentation is the final step to seal the championships and conclude another successful season of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
