SUCCESSFUL MXGP ORGANIZERS MEETING IN PALMA DE MALLORCA TO PREPARE 2025

PALMA DE MALLORCA (Spain) 8 December 2024 – Palma de Mallorca became the focal point as it hosted the Annual MXGP Organizers Meeting alongside the FIM Awards which has become the tradition for many years. This convergence of key motocross stakeholders at the Melia Palma Marina set the stage for the forthcoming 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship season.

The gathering began with the stunning 2024 season recap video, which captured the thrilling moments from the 2024 MXGP season. This showcase highlighted the exceptional performances and competitive spirit that defined the year.

Marionna Leiva, Marketing Director of Infront Moto Racing, introduced the assembly of important officials, including Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo, IMR COO Daniele Rizzi, and all the department managers. The FIM was represented by FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela, MXGP Race Director Ingo Partsch, MXGP Technical Director Andrew Summers, FIM Chief Flag Steward Karsten Schneider and FIM Medical Director David McManus. Most of the organizers were also present which underlines, with this extensive collective presence, the collaborative effort essential for organizing a successful championship.

Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo: " It's a pleasure to see this room filled with both long-time collaborators and new faces here in Mallorca. Reflecting on the 2024 season, we've successfully completed 20 Grand Prix events and the Motocross of Nations, navigating diverse continents and tracks—from the deep sands of Lommel to the rocky terrains of Trentino. This diversity underscores the quality of our World Champions, who master varied conditions. Our achievements this year are significant: approximately 48 million unique TV viewers, over 700,000 on-site spectators, participation from more than 2,600 riders across all classes, and attendance by over 2,200 media representatives. These figures highlight the global reach and growing popularity of MXGP.
I really want to thank each organizer; your commitments in providing the good infrastructure and environment to elevate professionalism for riders, ensures that fans return year after year and your dedication is a very vital aspect of our success. Looking ahead, we're thrilled to welcome Ducati in 2025, bringing another manufacturer in our championship which is a testament to MXGP's dynamic future. Initiatives like the Friday test track have enhanced event visibility.
My sincere thanks go also to Antonio Alia Portela and the FIM team for their collaboration. Motocross is more than a global championship; it's a family. Together, we navigate challenges and celebrate successes, continually elevating our sport Thank you all for your support and I look forward to another fantastic season ahead."

FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela then addressed all the attendees and organizers:
“Gathered in this beautiful part of Spain, we come together not just as colleagues, but as a family spread across the globe. This unity promotes mutual understanding and synergy among Infront, our partners, and all the organizers. Each year, we want to elevate our standards, improving performance across all aspect of our sport. This collective effort strengthens the MXGP brand, a testament to our shared dedication. Your commitment, including necessary investments and improvements, maintains the pillars of this family, meeting the high expectations of teams, riders, and the entire MXGP community. SEEWER AND DUCATI

Ducati factory rider Jeremy Seewer isn’t a racer who is comfortable with just being there for the money. With 13 Grand Prix wins to his name and a number of top three finishes at the end of a season, the rider from Switzerland’s signed with the Ducati company, because he believes in the team.

Seewer has been known to be critical of some of his previous bikes and teams, but one thing is sure, he seems more than happy riding with the Italian brand, as he gets to know the team mechanics and engineers.

“So most importantly,” Seewer said. “With the people involved, the mechanics and engineers around the team based in Italy, I start to enjoy riding again and that's what you need to be successful. Even those first few days, I enjoyed it a lot, and I think the bike already is on a good level for sure, we need to put some work in, that's normal, but I think, it shouldn't take too long.”

What makes Seewer happier than anything else is the way his new Ducati handles in corners, something he has struggled with in 2024 on the Kawasaki machine. With a little more testing, the feeling of the multiple GP winner is that he can set some high goals in 2025.

“It corners incredible. Honestly like it's so funny, like this year, I struggled so hard with cornering, it would not turn as I wanted, and this bike now, it’s like it goes around the corner by itself. Like incredible, so good, you know, so that's insane and then half of the other parts are just suspension and frame. I need to learn something completely new, from KYB to Showa and I've never been on Showa, so yeah, that's the point and its not really negative, it's just that it takes time. Setting up a completely new bike is already a big thing and then making it with new suspension, new people, yeah, that's tough.”

As for goals in 2025, Seewer doesn’t want to get those goals just yet, but he does want to make sure he can race up front and not be stuck mid-pack and struggling. He also knows that the longer he gets to work with the team, on making the bike better, the higher his goals will be.

“I think the goal is, I don't know, it's so hard to say after two days on the bike. We need a few more months or weeks, but like the goal would be to win a race next year, to win a race would be insane for a brand just coming into GP. Especially the level where MXGP is at now, you know like, these guys are fast, and you know they know what they're doing and they're level in the first few guys is super fast. Right now, I am more trying to turn it around. I work as hard as I can this winter to get as far as I can without putting any pressure.”

So, as Seewer spends many days working on making the Ducati more to his liking, we all know that he will arrive at the early pre-season races looking to find his groove and get to a point, where he feels he can fight with the likes of Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser, just as he has done in the past.

‘STATE OF ORIGIN’ SUPPORT CLASSES FOR 2025 MXGP OF AUSTRALIA IN DARWIN

The 2025 MXGP of Australia in Darwin will feature ‘State of Origin’ support classes for MX3 and MX85 competitors, with the unique format to showcase the future stars of Australian motocross at the September 19-21 world championship event.

The MX3 class will be open to riders from 14-U18, and the MX85 for 12-U16 competitors on ‘big wheel’ machines, with both scheduled to compete at the purpose-built Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex track across three motos apiece.

The inclusion of the state challenge for MX3 and MX85 will add to an already massive on-track schedule in Darwin, which will also include the MXGP and MX2 classes and the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship – all featuring multiple Aussie wildcards from the ProMX Championship.

Each State Controlling Body in Australia will select two six-rider MX3 and MX85 teams via their own qualifying processes, which will include ProMX and state championship events. In Darwin, three trophies will be awarded: to the top states in MX3 and MX85, and an overall winner.

More details on the State of Origin support classes will be made available in the New Year.

Peter Doyle, Motorcycling Australia CEO:
“What better support class outlet than to showcase Australia’s emerging talent from our two main junior development classes – riders that will be MXGP wildcards in Darwin or permanent world championship campaigners in future years. “The State of Origin concept is one we are excited about, and the exposure it will provide to our brightest juniors will hopefully open pathways to more international opportunities. “The MXGP of Australia is shaping up as a brilliant three days of action in the Top End.”

Trevor Cox, Northern Territory Major Events Company Acting CEO:
“The MXGP of Australia is shaping up to be a landmark moment in Australian motocross. Not only will we witness the world’s best riders competing alongside our talented Australian wildcards, but we’ll also see the future of the sport on display and racing on the same track as their heroes. “Darwin is the ideal host for the ‘State of Origin’ format, giving fans from across the Territory, Australia, and the globe the opportunity to cheer on their team or favourite rider in a vibrant and exciting setting. “After the excitement of racing, visitors can unwind and explore the breathtaking waterholes, sunsets, and culinary delights that make the Top End such a unique and unforgettable destination.”

Visit the MXGP of Australia website for Darwin ticketing details.
